I know everyone is different but keen to know how often you feel your baby? is it every hour...every few hours etc? specially interested in those with anterior placenta! thank you

I had an anterior placenta and could go hours without feeling my little one move. Ended up at maternity triage a few times because of it. If you haven't felt baby for a while, try lying down and playing music for him/her.

Going for a drive helped, too. I always felt him the most while driving to and from work. Even now, at 18 months old, he loves being out in the car.

I thought the reduced feeling of movement with an anterior placenta was a bit of a myth? I had a posterior placenta with my first, anterior this time round. Felt this one earlier (common with second pregnancy anyway) and can't say I've noticed any difference with how much I feel them move.

Both mine have had common periods of high activity (morning, middle of the day, evening) and then I usually feel them a bit on and off at other times. I can sometimes go a few hours without feeling them move but that may partly be because I'm moving around a lot and not noticing (active job + toddler to look after on weekends). Timings vary but so long as I've felt them moving broadly in line with the above I don't worry.

With DD2 I had an anterior placenta and my midwife told me that once I hit the third trimester that the anterior placenta was less of an issue with feeling movements due to the babies size. I felt them regularly most hours, if you're worried please get checked out

it's not I'm worried about movements as such I do feel him multiple times per day but I wouldn't say every hour so was just curious to hear from others :)

I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy and I never established a set pattern or had strong movements. Definitely never any that could be felt by anyone else or seen from the outside.

It also depends where exactly your placenta is (low/high/ to one side) in relation to where baby is lying. For me, everything was always cushioned right behind the placenta and I was in quite a bit in the 3rd trimester with reduced movements as I'd early go all day without feeling her (i was on daily monitoring by the end).

I had a couple of extra scans and she'd be moving around like crazy on the screen but I couldn't feel a thing which I still find so weird.

It may not be the case for everyone, but for me it was no myth. It was definitely harder with an anterior placenta and i really had to trust my gut with what was normal for me and when i needed to go and get checked. I never felt something every hour so while that may have been normal for others, it wasn't for me. I also found lying on my left side drinking a cold sugary drink would often help and I'd feel a flutter so that would reassure me sometimes.

Don't hesitate to go in anytime you're unsure.

I am now 29+3 with DD2 and have a posterior placenta this time. It's been a completely different experience so far.
