Hi Kezza,

I was just about to look up restrictions for milk etc on flights when I read your post. Ive taken mine over to spain when they were little with no probs. They were better than the older ones on the flight and they handled the heat a lot better than I did aswell!! Aslong as they are covered up and creamed up Ive had no problems with them. Are you going for a holiday? Im going out there in June with 3 of them. I must need my head testing.

If you're bfeeding you don't need to take half as much stuff and won't have to worry about milk restrictions at the airport. You are right in saying you should feed at take off and landing but my dd didn't seem to be bothered by the pressure (I was though!). You can take your buggy up to the gate but it is handy to have a sling as you may not have buggy for a while when you land, plus simply getting on and off a plane with baby + hand luggage can be tricky.

Nappies you can buy there, no need for creams and potions (at that age my dd was still on just cotton wool and water) and they don't need much in the way of clothes. I travelled when my dd was 8wo and all her stuff fit into a small rucksack.

Keep baby out of direct strong sunlight at all times, you should not be creaming up a 6wo (skin too delicate for all those chemicals) and they can get heatstroke really easily at that age. That said, keep liquids up (frequent bfeeds) and everything should be fine.

you'll need to sort a passport out for the baby - as this can take up to 6 weeks you'll need to get your dp to get his skates on re getting birth certificate (and photo etc) to sort it - you can go into london to queue up and get it done but that may not be very practical.

I'm due mid July and am flying to the south of France for a week on Sep 10th so baba will be 6 to 8 weeks, I've heard it's often easier with little ones, there's 11 of us going for my sister's 40th so plenty of family round to allow us some time to sleep! have a wonderful holiday Kezza

Took ds2 at 9 weeks to Spain (2 1/2 hour flight) No problems at all. Didn't even take a pushchair for him (although had one for our dd which he could go in). We took a small bouncy seat thing which came apart to make it transportable and a parasol and when on the beach sat him in that in the shade. Definately no direct sunlight. We were Ok as it was October but in high summer I'd not even go on the beach due to reflected rays on the sand and definately no sun cream. I don't think it is recommended for under a year (6 months?) in any case not use it for a tiny baby. Also no other kinds of creams. Just pack lots of vests and cotton jackets if it gets chilly. I didn't take any equipment as breastfeeding and he didn't need any other liquids.

Good luck.
