First time poster here, hoping for some advice,
i firstly found out I was pregnant in November, around 4 weeks, the tests never became any darker over the course of the next week, by 5 weeks i started spotting, over the course of a few days spotting turned to blood before a full bleed around 5w+5 early December only bleeding for 5 days (negative test the following week)! Ofcourse I was absolutely devastated by this and it took me a few weeks to get my head around it, not fully realising how easily I could fall pregnant again.. fast forward to 01/01/25 and I’m feeling sick and breast are VERY sore, I took a test and to my surprise it’s positive! Emotions all over the place as I’m terrified to lose another baby after previous loss but also praying this one sticks!
however, I’m unsure what day would count as the first day of bleeding to calculate dates? Would it be the day I started spotting/passing stringy clots, the day the blood became bright red, or the day of the full bleed?
I didn’t track ovulation because I was oblivious to what was going on with my body stupidly, and although it’s the matter of 5 days any advice would be helpful as to what date would count.

I'm sorry for your loss. I would say that any of the dates for your pregnancy loss would be good enough. The lmp has two purposes and they are appropriate dates for your booking appointment and dating scan. Talk it through with the midwife and they can decide what lmp date to take. I think my app dates day 1 of a cycle as the first day of bleeding rather that first day of spotting so I think that's what I would do but I don't think a few days either way will make a huge difference especially as women's cycles all vary. As soon as you get the dating scan lmp doesn't matter

I had the same happen earlier in the year. I got pregnant immediately after a chemical pregnancy. They dated from the day I started bleeding, I had previously had some pink discharge and then started bleeding, and dated from when I started bleeding which was accurate when I had the 12 week scan.

The positive news is I am now 30 weeks pregnant :) I was absolutely petrified when I got the positive test and I felt incredibly anxious for the first few weeks. But found that a few weeks in I just relaxed and accepted that what will be will be, and a good friend said to me worrying will not stop anything bad happening, so try to enjoy it as much as you can, even though I know it is an incredibly anxious time.

Congratulations, It’s so good to hear your positive response after your chemical, my biggest fear is getting to 5 weeks and the same thing happening. You are right, worrying won’t change the outcome. I have been testing every few days to make sure the line is getting darker this time round - which so far it is 🤞🏼.
I will go with the date I started bleeding so will be 5 weeks tomorrow, I hope this one gets comfortable!

I found that not testing helped my anxieties, with the chemical pregnancy I had done multiple tests which just made me more and more anxious, so just decided when I got pregnant again to test once and then not again. This definitely helped my anxiety. And once I had got past the point I had started bleeding before that also helped, and just found that over time I relaxed and started enjoying the pregnancy more.
Keeping everything crossed for you that this one sticks!
