Is it common as a symptom to be tired in the day and not tired at night please?

It's very normal to have a couple of hours window where you're wide awake, she posted at 03.48. Pregnancy insomnia is very common and you just have to find ways to function around the disturbed sleep pattern. With my first my midwife said it is your hormones getting you ready for strange sleep patterns.

Yea it's currently driving me insane. I'm 35 weeks and it's been this way for most of pregnancy

anonny55 · 06/01/2025 05:10

Yep. 32 weeks pregnant it's been like this for a while now. Not slept properly since around 20 weeks! Uncomfortable when I do manage to sleep and wake up every hour anyway! 3am hits and I can't get back asleep. It's 5.08 and I've just had a sudden urgent craving of cocopops so I'm downstairs on the sofa with a large bowl!

DP works nights, just got home and was like wtf are you doing at 5am on the sofa eating coco pops😂😂

Emelene · 06/01/2025 05:16

I’m only 10.5 weeks but struggling with pregnancy insomnia too. Often awake at 3am ish. And back at work in the morning - wish me luck!

Teisen1990 · 06/01/2025 05:19

Pregnancy insomnia is normal. Unfortunately 3 years later it's stuck around for me!

Rtmhwales · 06/01/2025 05:24

11 weeks and for 4 weeks I’ve been massively struggling to call asleep before 3am. I then want to sleep until 11am and feel drugged if I can’t. It’s awful, and I didn’t experience this in previous pregnancies.

Butterflyfern · 06/01/2025 05:55

Yep, I was a sufferer here too!

The combination of insomnia, sore hips (so lying on one side for too long hurt) and acid reflux meant my sleep was horrendous during pregnancy. I actually got more sleep with a newborn! 😂

Pumpkinseason3 · 06/01/2025 06:06

Very normal unfortunately @YourTealBiscuit 🫠 I wasn’t the best sleeper before pregnancy anyway but that took it to a whole new level.

I haven’t slept properly for a single night since I was about 10weeks pregnant 😂 And DS is now 4 years old 😂

freidafreida · 06/01/2025 06:09

Been up since 3am because I just wasn't tired any more. Have to get for work now and suddenly exhausted. Almost 22 weeks here.

fairylights79 · 06/01/2025 06:19

I was like this on both my dc- crushing tiredness during the day, fast asleep by 7pm then wide awake at 2am.

sel2223 · 06/01/2025 09:35

Pregnancy insomnia is very common unfortunately. I had it throughout the first trimester and now it's back again at 28 weeks!

xMsXhX · 06/01/2025 10:38

Yesterday you posted a thread asking if gagging at the fridge was a pregnancy symptom, and then admitted that you are currently testing negative for pregnancy and that your period isn't due for another 7 days (therefore far too early for any symptoms). Last week it was the dog peeing on the bed that had you convinced you're pregnant, whereby it was explained to you by multiple users that it would be impossible for you to be pregnant at that time.

I'm starting to wonder if you're just a troll at this stage. Please stop wasting people's time asking for pregnancy support when objective tests are telling you that you're not pregnant! If you're not a troll, you need to get some kind of support for your obsession with pregnancy as this is not healthy behaviour.

sel2223 · 06/01/2025 10:42

Oh, I just read pp that you are not pregnant OP? In that case, it's probably all this overthinking causing your insomnia!

If your hcg hormone levels aren't high enough to give you a BFP then they're certainly not high enough to cause any pregnancy symptoms.

First of all why would i be trying to troll anyone what is the purpose of that? I ask these questions out of curiosity and me not knowing this things i agree that i may be testing too early and thats why no results but i cant help feeling this way when i am ttc there is no need from your utter nastiness in this reply its unnecessary and quite childish everyone had different experiences you do not know my personal circumstances and the reasons why i have been ttc so hopefully you see this and act more kind to people in the future. Thanks x

There have been people on your other threads though that have tried to help you. Its not just that you “may” be testing too early, you ARE testing too early. One thread you were testing 23 days before your period and another was about 13 days before.

I’m saying this nicely. Have a google about ovulation and conception. Or if you don’t really know just ask on the conception boards. People on there have years of experience. They will help you.

If you have a regular cycle of around 28 days, you will ovulate on approximately day 14. (Obviously people have longer and shorter cycles but I’m using this as a guide).
If you ovulate on day 14, the embryo will not even implant until 6-12 days after that. So you cannot be pregnant before that happens. The absolute earliest people tend to get a positive test is 7 days after ovulation and even that is rare. Most of the time it is 9-14 days after.
And with regards to symptoms, you cannot have symptoms of pregnancy until you are actually pregnant. So after the embryo has implanted.

If you are unsure when you ovulate then you can use tests to check this. That way you’ll know when you are around 10 days past ovulation and you could do a test. But honestly looking for symptoms and testing 23 or 13 days before your period won’t show anything.

A lot of people find symptoms of getting their period are very similar to pregnancy. In fact for lots of people no symptoms is in fact their only symptom. Sometimes it can be fun to symptom spot with other people who are also TTC. But you have posted lots of threads in a short period of time and ignored all the advice given.

Pop over to the conception boards and find people also TTC and get more advice if needed about ovulation etc. People there are really nice and helpful and will tell you when is best to test etc.

I'm not trying to be nasty to you. But this is a forum for people who are currently pregnant, many of whom are facing seriously issues and concerns regarding pregnancy loss, infertility, concerning screening results etc (I include myself on that list). Your flippant posting is out of place amongst the serious conversations being had amongst currently and previously pregnant women. You had also initially misled people on this particular thread, and your gagging one, into thinking you're pregnant, which is deceptive and hence why it reads as trolling (I don't know why anyone trolls, but people obviously do, otherwise the term wouldn't exist!).

I didn't mean to cause you offence. As the PP has said, perhaps try a different board which is more relevant to your current status.

gills22 · 07/01/2025 21:30

Honestly yes it is. I am 34 weeks today and struggling. I am exhausted during the day and can have a nap if I get a chance but night is a different story.

It takes me ages to dose off and I am up down every 1-2 hours to use the toilet. I am so freaking tired but I am just trying to power through
