Nausea and headaches - 34 weeks (not pre-eclampsia)

Hello everyone,

Servere hypochondriac over here! I'm receiving therapy and help for this. I am 34 weeks and recently have developed a headache. It's on and off for over a week now - not a terrible headache by any means and tends to be worse at night. It's not keeping me awake but notice I feel 'off' when I wake up.

I've also got some nausea and threw up the other day (only twice) in the night. I've not been feeling 100% in general tbh!

I have been to see a midwife twice in this time which has ruled out pre-eclampsia. However, I am now convinced that I have a brain tumour. I'm seeing a GP tomorrow.

Just wanted to hear if any other mums/people out there got headaches in third trimester to reassure me I am not dying.

Many thanks!

How many times have you been checked for PE?

Sorry, you said twice! Maybe you have a bug and just feel rotten. Keep an eye on things, don't hesitate to go back and get checked for PE again of you're worried.

The thing with PE is that it can mimic normal pregnancy symptoms.
So headaches, swelling etc can just be a normal part of pregnancy. As can sickness and nausea (I am 28 weeks and still throwing up).
Do keep an eye on things though as things can change quickly with PE. I first displayed symptoms around 30 weeks but wasn't actually diagnosed until 37 weeks when my BP wouldn't come down and the protein in my urine went up to ++++.
DD1 is now 4.5 and absolutely fine.

it may be worth asking to speak to an obstetrician via your triage line/day assessment unit/whatever equivalent you have locally. If there's a pattern that it's worse overnight & on waking /associated with vomiting then that's important to tell them.
