Buying pram for June baby in January sales 😬

I'm quite superstitious but husband has started looking into prams and found a travel system in the January sales that ticks all our boxes. The saving is huge (£700)...but I'm only 15+4.

(We could order it now and get it delivered to my mum and dad's so it wouldn't be in the house.)

Our 20-week scan is 5 February so we're thinking of ordering end of Jan and then we have 21 days to return if we have bad news at scan.

@Antsinmypantsneedtodance We've done some research and asked around for recommendations, checked out lots and lots of reviews - it's a Cosatto bundle with everything including two car seat bases as well as the carrier, bassinet and everything. I need something sturdy as I walk everywhere and husband will have the car at work, so we want to buy new and invest in decent kit.

I'm similar (walk everywhere as husband uses car for work) and just wanted to say the Oyster 3 has been amazing for us. It's on baby number 2 now and still in great shape! Very sturdy and both babies have slept well in it which is always a bonus 🙈

I'd go for it. Although I would find the car seat reviews and see what you think. Should the worst happen, you'd probably still be able to sell it on for a decent price and assuming you aren't having a very high risk pregnancy, it's not likely it would go wrong!

I wouldn't buy it I'm too superstitious.

I wouldn’t buy Costatto to car seats. Some have failed or meet very basic standards.

I would be looking at actual car seat brands like maxi cosi or cybex that have years of decent reviews.

Also That type pram only really works for normal pavement walks. If you want woodland walks you want a larger three wheeler type thing, and if you want to have something easy for travel/ smaller in boot later you will end up getting a second travel one also.

I think that’s really expensive tbh for cosatto. You could get a bugaboo and car seat for that.
Our mountain buggy with carrycot was £450 on sale, maxi cosi mica 0-4 year seat was £200, we used from newborn until 4. Bought a stokke yoyo travel pram also for £350. So 2 decent prams, and car seat until 4.

We bought a pram in feb for a June baby.

It was a good job... there was a fault with it which took a couple of months to sort.

Cosattos are not that good and the car seats even worse. Massive case of style over substance. Go to either an independent baby shop, a John Lewis or a Mamas and Papas and try a few out. Don't buy a bundle with a car seat. I thought on paper the Mamas and Papas Ocarro was perfect for us but I hated it when I tried it in the shop. Way too low for me. We've had an uppababy vista that has done 2 DC now and was amazing. For car seats, look at avianaut or britax. They fit on the maxi cosi adapters so you can then separately buy adapters to fit on your pram of choice.

We did this but spoke to the shop and delayed delivery until 4 weeks before our due date. It meant that we secured a great price but if something else had come up we could still cancel. It also meant the guarantee period didn't start before it needed to.

I would repeat what others have said about the car seat. We got the cosatto giggle travel system from my brother. DS cried and screamed in every car journey from birth until 15ish weeks. I gave up with it and got a cybex. It was like we had a different baby and he never cried in a car journey from the moment we switched. Now it could have been a coincidence but the change in him was instant.

The bassinet of the pushchair got used as our downstairs sleeping place for about 10 weeks. Then he suddenly hated it. He refused to settle in it on walks too but I think that was our DS to be honest. We just carried him a lot and he preferred that.

Eventually I bought a second hand joie versatrax to replace the cossato. The version we had wouldn’t collapse all in one seat and frame and by 5+ months I had enough of taking it into multiple pieces so I saw the versatrax collapsed in one piece. Plus we bought a Ergobaby metro plus deluxe in the sale for travel (<10kg) and for shopping centre/city trips. I love the Ergobaby pushchair and use it more than the others.

Cossatto car seats arent the safest. Unless its one of their axkid ones. They usually have terrible fit for newborns. Check the car seat out carefully.

Even though I said the above I know quite a few people who love their cosatto pushchairs, so they are popular. It’s nice seeing the funky fox designs too vs all the other plain pushchairs.
