So I’m 8 and a half weeks.
Since Tuesday I’ve had horrendous morning sickness. Feel awful. Have barely eaten, barely drank, unable to leave the house.

But. Every time I’m sick I feel I lose control of my bladder and I feel like I’m going to wee, or a little bit of wee comes out. But just now, I’ve been sick and full on wet myself at the same time! I’ve never experienced anything like this! Has anyone else had this?

Yes.

2025mustbebetter · 04/01/2025 12:59

Yes during pregnancy as everything "relaxes" but also yes now as I'm old and stress incontinence is so rubbish!

moondip · 04/01/2025 13:00

Yes, this is called stress incontinence. Try downloading a pelvic floor exercise app and doing these daily. Your midwife will probably recommend that to you too. X

Totally normal.
Sit on the toilet when you throw up and throw up into a bucket or something. Just let it happen.
Both my pregnancies I had simultaneous vomit / wetting myself. I just accepted it.
Do your kegels religiously and also read a book on pelvic floor health and everything will eventually go back to normal once the baby is born.

BabyShock879 · 04/01/2025 13:02

Yes, I had this too. I thought I'd have bladder problems for the rest of the pregnancy but it was just a first trimester /morning sickness thing.

CandyCane457 · 04/01/2025 13:14

Thank you so much ladies- you’ve all put my mind at ease. I have a few friends who have had babies and this has never been mentioned, so I panicked a bit and thought there was something wrong with me!

Nope you're normal- welcome to the joys of pregnancy!!! X

Not in pregnancy but when I had bronchitis (post child birth) I would have urine leakage and wet myself a few times due to coughing fits. I was terrified by it being permanent but it went when recovered it went away.

I wore a pad just in case.

Happens to me every day. Im 33 weeks now. It's grim

sel2223 · 04/01/2025 20:19

Another joy of pregnancy that never gets discussed!
As a pp said, I sit on the toilet and puke into a bucket/bin/bag

Yes, while I was at work. Luckily only a bit. Do pelvic floor exercises, the NHS has a guide. But also get some incontinence pads just for reassurance. You hopefully will find you buy a pack and only ever use two but it will give you peace on mind.

Megapint · 04/01/2025 20:27

It gets even better after you have the baby. Cough, sneeze, laugh, run = piss yourself ( I'm only half joking 😄).

Januarythroughtojuly · 04/01/2025 20:30

Yes and my eldest is in 20s and I've never regained full control of my bladder. Get some incontinence pads in.

Noodlesnotstrudels · 04/01/2025 20:43

You need to start working on your pelvic floor muscles. There are special guides for pregnant women as the usual advice (ie. doing them whilst you are brushing your teeth etc) doesn't work as your bump gets bigger and heavier, and it's best to do them sitting or lying down. There's advice on this page - https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/exercise/ I also found having some private pelvic floor physio after the birth really helped get things back in shape.
