25 weeks pregnant, hormonal, tired, achey and done. Is this normal?

I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant, and after the Christmas period I just feel fatigued and irritable, as well as feeling the extra weight of the baby causing me to feel achey and sore.
I'd been enjoying the 2nd trimester up until Sunday, when I just burst out crying. Like actual sobbing. I don't know whether the Christmas holidays had me overwhelmed, but it happened again new years eve. I had also been struggling with a bit of insomnia for a number of days so of course that wasn't helping. My anxiety has been sky high, I'm overthinking absolutely everything. I feel like I just need a break. Is this normal to feel like this at 25 weeks gestation?
Potentially I have overdone it at Christmas, especially with the people pleasing?
Or perhaps, I'm nearly in my 3rd trimester and feeling it?

Yeah, sounds normal. In my opinion, there is no glow or good period, it's nine months of making you wish you weren't pregnant so that labour is a breeze.

Sounds like me. I agree about there only being less bad stages. Heart burn and indigestion started about a week after morning sickness stopped. I got about 4 weeks where I didn't desperately need an afternoon nap.

If you can afford it, try physio & pilates for the aches and pains. It won't stop them, but it makes you much more aware of movements that are going to cause them, so you can avoid it. My posture has improved so much since going.

I feel like I was sold a lie when people said 2nd trimester was a dream 😂literally get so tired so quickly. I've also gone back to afternoon naps.

I totally take your point about pilates, I need to get in a good routine with it. Thanks its nice to know I'm not alone ☺️

It's certainly been normal for me in both pregnancies - no sign of this so called 'glow' people talk about.

I'm currently 28 weeks with DD2 and been plagued by insomnia, heartburn and mouth ulcers throughout the second trimester. Also low BP causing faints and falls.
Now got sciatica down my left side and the sickness which finally went at 20 weeks appears to be back!
I'm fed up.

Pregnancy for me has been entirely crap both times within glow, huge rush of energy, or anything. Just sickness, nausea, tiredness, PGP, and insomnia. I'm 35 weeks with my second and last and I am utterly done, so uncomfortable and just feel aching and sick the whole time.

Get your bloods checked. I have low ferritin (extra check) which makes me feel even worse, but according to midwife does not count as anaemia Hmm

With no * not within

I have 3 HG, PGP pregnancies behind me. One of the major reasons we won't be having any more kids, I loathe pregnancy. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy, you will feel better once your baby is here (although obviously will need to recover from birth too which for me has been around 8 weeks each time).

Oh no that sounds awful. I'll be getting my bloods done in the next couple of weeks. I was no where near anemia last time, but know things can change. First time ive heard of low ferritin 🤔

Awful. My husband wants 3 kids. I said at this rate I will just stick to the 1 😆 ... 2 is the absolute limit.
Thank you!

As others have said… felt awful with nausea, sickness and extreme fatigue for the first 22ish weeks, then had a few ok weeks then pgp, fatigue back, heartburn, aching back and water weight gain for the remainder. Totally done by 34 weeks and stopped work, but somehow managed to trundle(/shuffle/waddle) on to the end. Know what you mean about just having 1, I thought that I was one and done after pregnancy but love DD so much now she’s here so preparing myself to go through it all again. Must be mad!
Take it easy and be kind to yourself the next few weeks, Christmas is a lot even without being pregnant!

Miffy1994 · 03/01/2025 22:41

And also yes to the insomnia and anxiety- it’s months of little sleep even before DC which is so difficult. Deep breaths with your anxiety and always go get checked if you’re worried. Can’t tell you the number of times I cried and said ‘but the midwives will just think I’m stupid’, when actually they always said well done for coming in. You’ve got this!

Craftymam · 04/01/2025 01:59

If it’s a blip then totally normal. There’s a lot going on and it is overwhelming.

However if your anxiety continues to the point your bursting out crying all the time then I would flag that with the midwife to get support put in place.

This could be totally normal. But post natal depression and post natal anxiety can start in pregnancy, and it’s not something you have to accept as normal.

Dont be scared about that. I was referred to peri natal well-being and they are incredible. I didn’t need the support post partum, or maybe I didn’t because I had the support. I don’t know but they are great so do speak to midwife if it continues.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 04/01/2025 02:25

Sounds normal I'm afraid. I felt TERRIBLE for both my pregnancies. I think I cried every day when I was pregnant with DS because I was just so miserable.
