Hi everyone
I wanted to ask about swaddling and whether this was a practice you took part in with your little ones.

It seems many people think it helps mimic the conditions of the womb, making the baby feel more comforted
Opinions are so divided but I wanted to know your thoughts. Why/why didn't you swaddle your little one?
Thanks 👍

my Baby was happy being swaddled in hospital but as soon as we were home she was having none of it!

I'm also curious if there are people that think swaddling is not good for the baby? I've come across some European friends who are very against it. If you don't think it is good for the baby, can you please tell me why as well - I am genuinely curious to know if there's any contraindications or if anyone has come across any research or evidence against swaddling

I didn’t like it as I didn’t want baby restrained - I wanted them to be able to move freely.

Tried a handful of times, but both my kids hated it. They loved to do full body stretches as best they could inside the womb, so not surprising they wanted to do the same outside.

My first hated it, couldn't even use a sling. Second loved it and i got some sleep doing it. I couldn't swaddle well so used those velcro swaddle bags, so much easier. Had to stop 3 months as he was intermittently accidentally rolling over.

Swaddling made a huge difference to both of mine. It's not magic, but it definitely helped, especially when they were past the 4th trimester and getting into a bit of a routine.

Swaddles were the only way DD would nap not being held in the early days. It definitely was a life saver.

We moved on after she was at the age where she was likely to roll over (3 months), although DD has been a bit later actually learning how to do it consistently.

We do have a merino wool sleep sack, which is ok. DD now co-sleeps so we don't use it so much as I thought we would.
