I am 41 btw but not sure if the papa a is considered low,I previously had a preterm birth at 33 weeks.

Hi, my numbers are different to yours but I was told by a friend to remember that if they say it's low chance then it's still low chance. 😊 I'd try not to worry (I know that's easier said than done but it won't make your life any easier to fret!) - could you have a chat with your midwife, see what she thinks?

I had low PAPP-A in my previous pregnancy and there are lots of threads on here specifically on it.
Mine was 0.38 and that was classified as being low (below 0.4) where I am, but I remember reading that some places didn't class it as low unitl below 0.3. So I don't think yours is low.
From what I understood they use low PAPP-A as a possible marker for FGR but it only means a slightly increased risk of a small baby not a direct correlation.

Oh ok it just says pappa a low does that mean the hormone is low or that my chance is low I'm a bit confused I have a consultation at the hospital next Monday just a cervical length scan but have gotten myself a bit worried after seeing this😔

From the screenshot you've posted I'd read that as 'Chance: Low' relating to each syndrome. Then the PAPP A reading as seperate with no chance rating- unless that's included elsewhere?
When I got my low PAPP A result the number was highlighted and a leaflet on low PAPP A included.

OverTheRainbow18 · 02/01/2025 15:31

The low relates to a low chance of Edwards/Pateaus 😊

Wazzalass · 02/01/2025 15:46

Ok thankyou so do you think I'm reading the results wrong then? So would you consider the pappa level normal or? I just can't find enough clear information on it just going down a Google rabbit hole atm trying to stay calm

It doen't say it's low on your results, and despite definitions varying from Trust to Trust it isn't low by any definition I've seen.
Even if it were low most babies with low PAPP-A levels will be born at the expected time and have a normal birth weight (as was mine) so I really wouldn't worry 😊

Hi @Wazzalass it doesn't say the Papp-a is low, it just gives the result. Your image looks like Badgernotes and is how mine shows. I guess a little confusing when it's not broken up on a separate line.

Your value is close to what my local trust would consider low as they use 0.4 as a threshold, however is within their parameters of 'normal'. You could always contact your midwife to discuss along with your other results if you are at all worried. Hope everything goes well for you x
