Reduced movements 28 weeks

Hello!!
Since hitting 28weeks 4 days ago, baby has changed the frequency and force of movements.
I went to get monitored two consecutive days, with the second visit leading to a quick scan. Baby was in a frank breech position. From this, all appeared OK.

It’s been 3 days since being checked and I’m still not having the movements I’d like - they are very low down felt in the early hours of the morning. That is the most I will feel baby.

Has anyone else been through a similar experience?
I have a midwife appt in a couple of days, and I’ve had a scan requested, and booked the day after.

Thank you!

I would think that its possible baby is getting bigger at this stage and doesn't have as much room to move around. However, I would keep going in for checks if you feel something isn't right. I went in many times with my first for movement checks was assured each time they would rather you come in 100 times vs. wait and risk that something is actually wrong.

I'm 27+4 and had a scan today - my little one is also in the Frank breech position. She's basically sitting up with legs stretched out very low.
My movements have definitely changed since she went into this position as they don't feel as strong and are much deeper down in my pelvic area.
I'm hoping she changes positions again soon

@pepperminticecream That is wrong, babies DO NOT run out room and the movement pattern is very important to observe and take seriously.

Research shows that a large percentage of women suffering stillbirth noticed a reduction in movements preceding this. This is why maternity units urge you to be vigilant and report any changes. Yes it’s almost always fine but we would rather see you 100 times and it all be fine than not see you the 1 time it isn’t.

A CTG only tells you what is happening in that moment. It is not predictive and so if you are still not happy with movements you should be calling your maternity triage and having an assessment.

Some helpful information regarding fetal movements and when to call your maternity unit.

My maternity unit had a poster about this and it basically along the lines said that any sudden change seek help if in doubt and you are not wasting the maternity assessment suites time.

The above advice about babies running out of room is incorrect!

My midwife told me movements should increase until 32 weeks and then stay the same. If you are worried or not happy with movements please call triage to be checked. Better to be safe than sorry!!! Scans and CTGs are only as good at the time they are done.

I would honestly get checked out every single time, it's just not worth the risk!

The general advice is to get it checked out each time, and it's better to be over cautious. That being said, there comes a point where it's you have been frequently and repeatedly checked, scanned etc, where you might need to accept that baby's current position makes it trickier to feel movements. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get things checked out that concern you, but if is you've been scanned, on the monitor etc that morning and all is fine, there's no need to go back that afternoon unless something changes.

That is good to know. Thank you for sharing.
