Think I'm having a chemical

I got my positive test at 9 dpo, I'll add the pics below of the tests, it got darker the follow couple of days, then stayed the same. Yesterday the test was lighter and then a negative in the afternoon. Then this morning I've taken another test and there's a faint line again.. I'm stuck in such limbo, did anyone else have a chemical pregnancy like this? Why is it taking so long 😞 just want it to happen now so I know what's going on.. the easy @ home was today.

Just wanted to add- I had some mild cramping yesterday but nothing today and no bleeding yet

I can’t tell the difference between any of them. I really would stop taking tests, they aren’t going to help. They will neither tell you that you are still pregnant or miscarrying- just fuel your anxiety and cost you money.
is there something you can do today to occupy yourself?

I think sometimes the best thing to do is take one test and if it’s positive take no more (I took 2 with DC1 and DC2 because they came in a pack of 2) and then try to relax and wait for your scan

9dpo is so early to test, and 14dpo is only a few days later. There will be big fluctuations in hormone levels throughout the day and depending on how much you’ve drunk, so the lines can get stronger and weaker. It could be a chemical or it may just be one of those factors but it’s too early to tell. Take it easy for a few days and try to rest, then test again and see what’s happening with it.

I know 😞 It's because I'm a Dr google kind of person and when I've looked at other people having this kind of line progression they all turned out to be non viable or a chemical. I'm driving myself nuts. You are right I need to put down the tests

I think there's a small section of women on MN who drive this 'line progression' phenomenon and it spreads and causes stress to people like you. I'm so glad when I had my babies I'd read none of this, tested on day AF was late and never tested again as I'd seen a positive. I get that this comes from the pain of infertility, I'm not judging people, but I don't think any good comes from all the early testing and trying to use tests as a barometer of early pregnancy heath.

nicolenorris · 29/12/2024 10:28

This is the full line progression. 9-15 dpo

The waiting game is so tough for situations like this. I had a chemical loss in between my two DS, and I found it helpful to go to the doctor for blood work. I had a HCG draw, and would have had one two days later to measure the growth, however nature took care of itself before then. Otherwise the wait would have been even harder I think.

It was a week of watching lines stay the same, and then suddenly get fainter for me, and the miscarriage happened 10 days after the first positive. The test was completely negative before this happened.

I very much hope this isn't the case for you, and you get a positive outcome. 💐

For me, I was lucky to conceive my second DS 7 weeks after the loss. I know everyone isn't as fortunate, but my GP said that fertility tends to be higher after loss anecdotally, and to focus on the positive that I could get pregnant. Easier said than done, but the silver lining helped just a little. ❤️

I feel this is exactly what is happening to me 😞 sorry you went through it too, it really is horrible. Happy to hear you conceived the month after, I heard the exact same thing so I'm trying to focus on that at least xx

It truly is horrible, for me it was a relief when the loss actually took place because it was out of limbo, and I could just focus on healing. Again, hoping that's not the case for you! There would be no harm visiting your GP and asking for blood work?

My GP also recommended comparing lines 2 days apart instead of day to day - that there should be a slight but noticeable difference within 48 hours. Caveats about time of day / hydration apply obviously. ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear that. 💔 Hope you can take some time off to rest and heal, it's exhausting to go through it both mentally and physically.

nicolenorris · 28/02/2025 10:22

@Somanymumquestions just wanted to update you. I didn't ovulate the cycle after my chemical but I ovulated this cycle and I'm pregnant again! And lines seem to be progressing well this time 🤞🏼🙏🏼🌈

Thank you for coming back and giving the update! Most of these posts just end abruptly and we don’t know what happened in the end… I hope everything is going well with your pregnancy 🩷
