Gender theories based on pregnancy symptoms

I'm 12+1 today and have been counting down the days until I stop feeling so ridiculously tired every day. My nausea has definitely improved during the past couple of weeks, although it's not gone completely and have been sick sporadically still. My fatigue is still crazy though - I wake up each morning for some breakfast and have to go back to bed within the hour because I feel so tired. I'm then useless when I do wake up a bit later in the afternoon, and nap again in the afternoon. I am in bed by 9 or 10 every night (and thinking about it by 8 🤣). It's not that I'm not sleeping well when I do sleep, too.

Bloods have been checked and iron is fine but my B12 was low, so I'm on injections every few days to get that up. I'm inclined to think this isn't the main cause of my tiredness though because I expect my levels were low prior to getting pregnant anyway, as I'm a vegetarian which can prompt low B12 due to diet, and I never felt like this before my pregnancy!

All this to say: I am very intrigued to hear your stories about pregnancy symptoms that you/others linked to a gender, and whether these theories turned out to be right. I have read various anecdotes about worse nausea and fatigue being indications of a girl, and I have a feeling I'm going to have a girl, but who knows!

With my girl: constant nausea (until 14 weeks), feeling very tired, bloated. My skin and hair looked beautiful.

With my boy: no nausea, not as bloated but extremely tired (I had a 2 years old toddler so that propably didn't help the tiredness). My skin was awful, I had pimples (which I never got due to dry skin), and my hair was very dry and unhealthy looking.

They say girls steal your beauty, but in my case, it was the opposite. Hoewer, I do have the most handsome baby boy, so it's all worth it!

With my son I was sick from 7 until 14 weeks. Low iron was picked up at 8 weeks and I started iron tablets. Had fatigue throughout the pregnancy where I had to go to bed by 8-9pm.

Im now 23 weeks pregnant with a girl this time. I have been less sick in this pregnancy it started at 4 weeks and stopped at 9 weeks. More mild sickness than my last pregnancy. I have been more tired but that’s due to low iron that had been missed for 5-6 weeks until I insisted on a blood test. Now I’m on iron tablets my fatigue is similar to my last pregnancy and I go to bed by 8-9pm.

I would say that other than my sickness starting and ending sooner this time I would say they have been similar. That much so I was convinced I was having a second boy until the scan on Tuesday said a girl.

I have caught a lot more colds so far this time but it’s not pregnancy related, it’s my toddler bringing them back from nursery.

For girl, i had no sickness, slight tiredness at the beginning. Craved orange juice but not much else. Skin fine. Very easy pregnancy.

2 girls and 2 completely different pregnancies so I take all the theories and old wives tales with a punch of salt. It was a load of rubbish in my case.

DD1 - no symptoms till 7 weeks, moderate sickness and nausea, extreme food aversions, savoury cravings - i started eating chicken again after 25 years as a vegetarian - no real bump till about 30 weeks.
Lots of dental issues, appendicitis at 28 weeks, pre-eclampsia in the 3rd trimester.

DD2 (currently 27 weeks) - symptoms started earlier at 5 weeks, bump popped very early on but neater and all out front. Horrendous sickness, debilitating fatigue, bad heartburn, sweet cravings. Low BP causing fainting and falling, mouth ulcers, recurring UTI's. Let's see what the last 3 months bring.

The pregnancies are so different I was convinced this one must be a boy but nope, definitely 2 girls confirmed with NIPT dna and several very clear and obvious scans.

I’m currently pregnant with my 3rd boy and was convinced he was a girl due to this time around all my symptoms being the complete opposite with the other two (sickness being one of them!) I really think the symptoms and gender are totally unrelated in my opinion! I hope your pregnancy goes well :)
