Hello,
Has any one recently had a baby at PRUH (Orpington)? What was your experience like? How many women were in your labour ward ? What were the midwives and doctors like?

I plan to have my baby there and think it would be helpful to hear from those with experience of the maternity section.

Thanks

Hi @Suth3rland
I found this discussion thread online:

This brings back memories. I had my DD there nearly 12 years ago. It was good then but I realise it was a long time ago 🤣

I had one awful experience during covid (failed induction, long waits, emergency section, bank midwife who let me lie post-epidural soaked in my own amniotic fluid for hours when I couldn't feel it). Then I had one incredible, calm, empowering experience in the Oasis Birth Centre with the most incredible midwifes I've ever encountered. So I guess it can vary! I had to go to the Birth Centre even though it was a VBAC because even though I was nearing the pushing stage, the labour ward was full to bursting. Happy to answer any specific questions you have though.

It's not what you're asking but the homebirth midwife team are AMAZING (and do the birth centre as well). So if you can get in there very much recommend.

Thanks very much for sharing your experiences @Bootoagoose123 and @Dinnerplease .

My pregnancy is considered high risk so I’ll most likely be induced; hence my research about the various options and scenarios. I have an upcoming appointment with a midwife so hopefully will get more info then.

For sure, I’ll reach out if I have specific questions @Bootoagoose123

I've just looked it up and it says 'According to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the maternity services at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington are currently rated as "Requires Improvement" overall,

That is massively putting me off, although the review was from 2022.
