I'm 14+2 and having episodes of quite painful trapped wind 😬 I can't see a pattern so assume it's not attached to a specific food.

In-between some occasional, horrific farts, I've got general bellyache - as though I have too much acid or something. I've assumed these are connected. It isn't crippling, just feels like I'm a kid that's eaten too many sweets.

Combined with the trapped wind and bloating, I can't say I'm looking forward to eating Christmas food today. 🙁

Any solid remedies out there? Keen not too risk anything that may anger it...so far going for a walk, stretching, soothing shower have all failed me.

Three pregnancies and I feel you!
Rennies work a treat - for some reason the branded ones rather than supermarket own. Sadly I found peppermint tea made the acid worse, which is a shame as it's a good cure all.

I hope you do manage to enjoy some of your dinner - merry Christmas!

Lie on your right side with your left leg bent up and on a pillow

I had major intestinal surgery and as a result I often get very painful trapped wind - trapped wind can be incredibly painful so I sympathise with you. I second @DustyLee123 's suggestion. Also what I find helps is to get down onto the floor in a crouching position with my knees tucked under me then to rock gently backwards and forwards. For me that seems to move it. A hot water bottle and ginger tea always help my intestinal pain.

For different causes of course but have you tried Buscomint?

I have IBD and it works wonders

Hope you feel better soon

Laying on your back with your knees tucked up to your chest (might be tricky if you have a bump!) and rocking from side to side.
Or laying on your back with your feet on the floor and knees bent and rocking your legs from side to side.
My mum was told by nurses to do this after a surgery. It’s always worked for us!
Also peppermint or chamomile tea can help.
A warm bath rather than a shower.

I am 11+5 and have had the trapped wind feeling pretty must constantly for the past few days. It sometimes manifests as burps like yesterday - I felt nauseous and started to be sick and a chorus of burps just came out. But feels like I really need a good trump sesh 🤣 which hasn't happened yet... It feels like my organs are being moved up into my rib cage or something by baby. Oh the joys of all the intriguing pregnancy symptoms! I also feed like I'd be better if I could be more active and less horizontal, but I'm still so exhausted that I'm spending a lot of time in bed!

Adding to these - cat/cow yoga pose, sliding forward into puppy dog (might have to Google lol) and waggling hips from side to side when on all fours

Charcoal tablets and gel windeze capsules help, not sure if can take if pregnant. Gripe water, peppermint oil in a bit of hot water. In addition to what others have said, hot water bottle and exercises.

I found windeeze and rennies helped. They also do Rennies Deflatine which help with bloating.

Flopsy145 · 25/12/2024 22:17

Liquid gaviscon and peppermint tea all the live long day

Forleaznavidad · 25/12/2024 22:19

For trapped wind, peppermint tea, windsettlers and sitting in downward dog position.

I had awful reflux in my pregnancies and was prescribed omeprazole and Gaviscon.

catsnore · 25/12/2024 22:22

Windeeze tablets worth a try. But personally I swear by Gripe water! It supposed to be for babies but my entire family take it 😂

Mamma333 · 26/12/2024 21:41

Give rennie deflatine a go, it honestly save me!

Scrabbelator · 26/12/2024 22:17

Dissolve a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) in water and drink it.
