Knocks/Blows to Bump - Effects? Dangerous?

I am 19 weeks pregnant and have two DC 5 and 2.5 years.

Now it is totally unintentional on their part but they are constantly leaning on, elbowing, head butting, kicking/landing on my bump.

I would not describe it as painful but very, very uncomfortable and sometimes it leaves me feeling almost winded and sick and my stomach feels really hard after a knock/blow.

Fortunately the baby is very active, so I'm sure s/he is okay, however, I'm really worried particularly about later pregnancy when s/he is really big and stuck for space, will s/he suffer any pain or damage from these constant collisions?

As my Nan always tells me(!!!) babies are incredibly resilient - whenever I had concerns like yours she used to tell me stories of the blitz when they used to pull pregnant women out of the remains of collapsed buildings and their babies would be fine!

My dd2 was born in october and my dd1 used to treat me like a trampoline at every opportunity so I am sure your little one will be fine xx

I fell over very spectacularly at about 32 weeks and landed my full enormous weight on the bump - we went to the hospital and got monitored and it was completely fine so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

The doctor said that bumps can sustain a lot of battering and the only way there would be problems would be if someone has been in a bad car accident or similar level of bashing.

I also fell over when I was 24 weeks and landed on my bump, all was fine and mw said babies are so well protected in there. My sisters ds used to climb on her bump all the time and her dd is fine!

They have airbags you know? Well okay waterbags but it's the same principle. DD jumps all over me. The only thing you have to be aware of is that if you do get a bad knock and then bleed you need to get to hospital pronto to rule out placental abruption, but that's much more likely to happen after a car accident than anything else.
