Losing mucus plug 21 weeks

I have had a lump of thick jelly like discharge fall out this morning. It’s about the size of a thumb nail.
From everything I’ve seen and read about the mucus plug I’m absolutely certain that it’s that. I called triage and they say they are not concerned but somehow it hasn’t reassured me.

I had a subchorionic heamatoma which caused significant bleeding and blood clots at 13 weeks and I have been such an anxious wreck since then. Everytime I start to feel a little bit safer and more relaxed something like this happens.

Im just so scared. I can feel baby moving around still, but the fear of losing him is becoming so difficult to manage now.

can anyone offer some reassurance? :(

I know someone who lost both mucus plug and membranes (waters broke) at a similar point. Baby was born healthy after several weeks of monitoring and medication to delay the birth.

It might be part of the mucus plug, it might not be. It sounds like the baby is fine and waters haven't broken though which I think is the most important thing for babies safety. If the medical staff are saying not to worry then I would believe them.

Sometimes the mucus plug can break a little and then reform itself. I'm sure my mucus plug was much larger than you're describing here. As PP have said trust what the medics are saying and if anything changes just reach out again .

My mucus plug (no bloody tinge) was constantly coming away and regenerating with my DC. It freaked me out too. But when labour was a day away it started getting blood in the mucus too (technically bloody show).

So if there’s no blood that a good sign, it’s just a bit gross. Keep an eye on and if you want to be ring them back for reassurance the midwife’s never mind, putting your mind at ease is part of their job. Keep an eye on the discharge / plug incase it turns less jelly and more creamy (signs of an infection like thrush)

I would reco starting hypnobirthing techniques now…..even if you aren’t planning that type of birth. The breathing techniques are super useful for c sections etc for you to feel more in control and calm. I started them around 17 weeks (just free ones on YouTube) so I could reduce my stress levels. I then picked an artist and practiced my breathing techniques to that artist so that regardless of water birth / induction / c section i could have that music available.

I had the same but about 3 thumbnails worth come out at 13 weeks. I took a photo to show the doctor and they sent me for a scan. All was fine, cervix still closed etc and they weren't concerned as there was no blood. I'm 25 weeks now and haven't had any more since.
