I'm only just out of the supposed blooming second trimester, but I feel like I'm nine month pg with triplets. I heave myself out of bed in the morning, groaning and whinging about my aches and stiffness. My body feels like someone's been tying it up with elastic bands to starve the circulation. I'd really like one of those electric buggies that old people use, as well as a stannah stairlift.
I don't suffer from ms, back problems, pelvis problems etc. I have "good" pregnancies. I know I've got nothing to complain about, but I just want to go to bed attended by a eunuch masseur for the next three months. My blood pressure's fine, I'm not swelling up or anything and I've put on a reasonable amount of weight. Please tell me that I'm not a freak to be feeling quite so rubbish quite so early on.
Pol

HI Sweetkitty - yep, only 4 weeks to go, doesn't seem that long does it since the TTC days!!

My Mum always used to go around telling everyone that she didn't understand why I felt so dreadful during pregnancy when she really bloomed and felt the best that she ever had. Until a friend tactfully took her to one side and pointed out that I was 10 years older than she was when she had her pregnancies. And she was considered an "older first-time mother" in her day.

It's all very well for you lot but I'm only on my 2nd pregnancy (37 years old) and I'm feeling the same as you and I was so certain that I wanted 3.......it's awful isn't it?!

I too would love some reassurance that this crapness goes after the birth.....my mobility is laughable and I'm only 29 weeks and have been like this since about 10 weeks.

Staranise, how right you are. Remember those first pregnancy days when you encouraged to put your feet up at all opportunities? When carrying shopping might endanger the life of your unborn child, let alone lugging two lumpen toddlers?
And how much would I like a bath with a door on it. I'd stay in there for the next few months.
There are no pregnancy privileges third time, or even second, time round.

ps missed a page of messages. thankyouandgoodnight, it will get better on the physical lumpeness front, but will be replaced by those terrible nocturnal nights and the achy nipples etc.
#Mrs TM - I wonder how much difference age makes? Of course I can never know, having not been pg in my 20s. What must it be like for that psychiatrist who got pg in her 60s?

I expect that she would have pyschiatried herself in to a state of loveliness and all blooming......

I was pregnannt first time at 27, and now at 39, and I would say that on theachiness front age is making a huge difference! I didn't get back ache or pelvic ache or general 'bump is too heavy I have to carry it with my hands' ache the first two times (although I must confess, I still hated being pregnant - hence waiting 10 years before having another go!)

I literally can not do anything in the evenings apart from lie on the sofa (although even that is uncomfy). We took the LO's out for supper last night and were back home by 8.30 - and it waqs a chore not a treat! Poor DH is having such a boring time, and as for the LO's, I can barely walk up the stairs to say goodnight in the evening, let alone do anything fun with them. Bad mummy. Roll on 14 July..

staranise - I told my MW about my SPD this week (has started in the 1st trimester this time round, I was fine until the 3rd last time). She told me not to carry my toddler around! I pointed out that I tried not to, but it was a bit difficult when I had to remove a trantruming little person from a dangerous situation and she was fighting back. So different from last time when I was treated like a china doll!

Thankyouandgoodnight · 04/05/2008 11:59

That has reminded me of a funny situation - my pregnant friend and pregnant I, were battling with our toddlers in their buggies up a long flight of stairs on the underground. A girl said that she would love to help except that she was 8 weeks pregnant and so shouldn't be carrying anything and then shot off.....

PollyParanoia · 04/05/2008 14:22

Tee hee, re. the woman on the tube. I remember when I was pg second time round with a toddler, a first-timer said obviously we'd all have to meet in her neck of the woods for some mass get-together because it was impossible for her to travel.
Continuing the old person envy theme, one of the best things about my cs was having a catheter. Oh the joy at not having to get up in the middle of the night, umpteen times, to go. And I haven't even got to that stage of this pregnancy yet. I quite sympathised with Heather Mills (not a phrase I utter lightly) and her wanting a bed pan.

40 nearly 41 29 weeks pregnant with the brain of a goldfish. Other than a brief phase around 18-19 weeks when my back was really bad thought I was going to spend the latter half of my pregnancy either bed bound or drugged up I am nearly pain free for the first time in over 10 years (chronic back problem). I do get aches and pains from stretching ligaments and had a lot of pain from a degenerating fibroid when I would have happily taken anything to take away the pain.

Think that when you are pregnant many women find that their brain focuses on the pregnancy and baby.

Divvy · 04/05/2008 18:56

I am 36, 28 weeks pregnant with 5th....my granchildren keep me young!
