Hiya,
Recently had fectopic now an early miscarriage. All has resolved. I know in UK reluctant to test anything until 3 losses but going to speak to GP in hope! Can anyone advise of some tests I can request to check whether anything going on, hormonal, vitamins deficiency etc? I am going to have my thyroid checked as I think this might be of issue. Thanks in advance. Hoping my 2025 journey is far kinder! X

@Soph1809 I'm sorry for your losses. New guidance came out not too long ago saying that your GP should support basic tests after 2 losses. I'm not sure if ectopic is included in this as the reason for the loss is already confirmed if that makes sense? Worth asking though - some GPs are really supportive and some push back. Unfortunately it's a bit luck of the draw what type of GP you'll have!

Yes I wonder if ectopic won’t count! Shame as it’s still a loss and actually really horrible compared to this very early miscarriage. I will try my luck though! Xx

@Moosey898 what would you say the basic tests should cover? X

@Soph1809 oh yeah it's a horrible type of loss, there is no doubt about that.
My GP said they would do some basic blood tests for vitamin deficiency and thyroid after 2 miscarriages. It's not a lot but at least it's something.
What I would say though is usually they don't find anything actually wrong. But it's good to rule out issues that could be fixable too.

Unfortunately no, an ectopic does not count.
