IUGR in subsequent pregnancy’s

My second child was born at 34 weeks due to IUGR and uncontrolled gestational diabetes. He was actually born a good weight at 4lb 7oz but spent 2 weeks in SCBU. Almost 2 years later it’s still quite obvious he was premature, he’s not walking or talking at 21 months. We would really like to start trying for number 3 soon but terrified we will have another prem baby due to IUGR. Has anyone had experience with pregnancy following an IUGR baby, did you have it again or was everything ok? Would love you hear peoples experiences if you don’t mind sharing.

I think the likelihood of having another IUGR baby depends on the cause and other factors. I had an IUGR baby earlier this year and have an appointment with my hospital to go over the risk of recurrence in subsequent pregnancies, is this something you could request though your GP?

I had an IUGR baby, born at 34 weeks 3lb 10. Development wise he’s been fine (now 5) but was still small for his age/based on parental height at 4 so he is on growth hormones. I had pre -eclampsia with him.

Second baby was born at 39 weeks 8lb 7 so no growth issues. I did get high BP near the end but was closely monitored throughout (extra scans etc). He was always measuring on the larger side

I had an iugr baby 10 years ago. He was 5lb 6 at 36+6. I've since had a full term 8lb 3 baby and I'm now 35+5 with a 91st centiler lol. I've been taking baby aspirin this time which I'm sure has helped but now I'm having to discuss birth plans for delivering a large for gestational age baby.
