Hi, I just wanted some advice as I'm really confused and wondered if anyone has experience of this.

I had a positive pregnancy test two weeks ago just after I missed my period. I'm sure of my dates as I know exactly when I had my period and I only had sex once.

I decided for various reasons not to continue with the pregnancy. I've been waiting over a week already for appointment at the local unplanned pregnancy service.

When they did the scan, they seemed unsure if I was even pregnant and asked if I had a positive test and if the line was strong (which it really was). They seemed not to believe me when I said I had only had sex once since my last period.

I had to do a urine sample there which was positive.

After a while they said they could see a gestational sac but no fetal pole/embryo.

They said I may be too early to see anything, that my dates could be wrong (they aren't).

I don't want to continue with the pregnancy either way, my last pregnancy I had hyperemesis gravardium, and I've already been extremely unwell and vomiting.

They will not give abortion medication with just a sac, and said I will have to wait and come back for another scan in a week.

I'm too unwell to go to work and have already had a week off. I feel in limbo.

They said if my dates are correct (which they seemed to be treating me very sceptically about), that the pregnancy may have ended on its own, or no embryo developed and I will miscarry naturally.

They put it down as a pregnancy of unknown location, although there is a sac present.

I don't know what to think or do, I just feel so confused.

If there is a sac why can they not give me the medication to pass everything quicker and get back to being well and get on with my life?

Any advice appreciated

I'm sorry you are going through this OP. How far along do you think you are?
The won't give you the meds incase you also have have an ectopic, in additional the sac which I assume was in the uterus?
The only other option could be a EPU, but they likely won't see you unless you are bleeding, having 1 sided pelvic pain etc. Some you can self-refer to, others, you need a GP referral. Might be worth a call, if you can get through to someone. Otherwise, I'm afraid you'd need to wait another scan at the original clinic.

Hi, the sac was in the uterus which is why I was confused at them calling it a pregnancy of unknown location, could it mean there is an epitopic somewhere else?

Potentially, although rare, it could be twins- 1 pregnancy in the uterus and 1 elsewhere, such as in the tube.

More likely though is a blighted ovum, and they want to ensure there isn't another pregnancy elsewhere.
