Severe leg cramping in the night!

I was wondering if anyone else had suffered with this! I am 28 weeks and I know it's normal to get leg cramps in pregnancy but mine are so severe it's crazy. It happened last week and it woke me up screaming, no stretching could fix it and it went on for 15 minutes+ at that intensity but settled to be gradually less intense but still did not stop cramping, I just fell asleep eventually lol. For days afterwards I couldn't walk and my calf was swollen so I was sent to A&E. They suspected a DVT as d dimer was also unusually high even for a pregnant person. I started blood thinners but the scan a few days later couldn't find a clot. I had been on crutches for days as I couldn't bare weight on that leg at all and couldn't walk unassisted. I was only just starting to recover and can walk around without aid (with a bit of a limp lol) when I woke up last night with cramp AGAIN!! Once again, no stretching could fix it and it lasted so long. Luckily it wasn't as painful as last time and my leg is only slightly sore today but I'm still not in the clear as last time the pain was manageable and I could walk the morning after and it was actually the day after that that it intensified but fingers crossed the cramp won't cause as much damage this time around. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?? I've had calf cramps before which are obviously really painful but I feel like no one can even understand the severity of this it's unlike ANYTHING I've ever had before and I actually have a pretty good pain tolerance, I think the doctors think I must be exaggerating a little! Surely it can't be normal for a cramp to leave you unable to walk and for a cramp to go on for so long and be so intense?? The only way I can describe it is having barbed wire wrapped all the way around my leg and then squeezed so hard it honestly feels like my leg will come off, I know all cramps feel like that but please trust that this is a whole different ballpark lol. My leg was left swollen for 4 days!! I'm going to try magnesium of course but I was just hoping someone else has had something similar and knows any tips or knows how to get the cramp to stop to minimise damage as bending my foot or trying to stand on it doesn't work, infact I can't even move that leg while it cramps but I've had my partner move it for me to try and stop it. I'm really worried I'm going to be left on crutches for the foreseeable at this rate lol!

Did you find any solutions or relief?
I had calf cramps in the early second trimester and they were horrible but I was only tense for the day.
Now the other day at 22 weeks I had them I'm both legs (2 hours apart) and they kept coming in waves. Now I'm left with very tense calves and have to warm up to walking comfortably.
I've been having electrolytes but could probably increase it.

I've been using magnesium spray before bed it seems to be helping ease the cramps

Oh i remember those days! Possibly lack of salt in your diet and/or dehydration.

Day and night? Or just night?
