Fundal heigh measuring ahead?

I was looking up stories on people who didn't feel their baby move yet. I am 22+5 weeks with an anterior placenta and I don't think I feel her yet. What I do feel just feels like very quick one-off wind/air moving down there.

And I found a story of someone who had the same issue (not feeling baby at that stage) and she had polyhydramnios and the baby was born with myotonic dystrophy (a severe muscle disorder). Of course, I am very worried.

I saw the midwife a week ago. She checked the heartbeat which was good and measured my fundal height. I was 21+2. She said it was measuring 22cm so a bit ahead. At my last ultrasound at 19 weeks, the baby measured 2 days ahead and was in the 50th percentile.

And I know having a fundal height higher than your gestational age is a sign of polyhydramnios. Anyways, I am really concerned about this. As it seems quite early for the fundal height to already be off by a week! Any advice or someone with similar experience this early?

Hello, I'm a midwife and the national guidance is not to measure fundal height until after 24 weeks, many hospitals don't do it until the 25 or 28 week appointment. Generally as pregnancy progresses a midwife can feel from the palpitation if there is excess fluid and then will refer for a scan to confirm. At this stage I would not be concerned but you can always speak to your midwife about this to get reassurance.

I had an anterior placenta and I was large for my gestation. DD's abdomen also measured large for her gestation. It turned out I had very slight gestational diabetes due to being treated with steroids for a lot of the pregnancy. DD came early, which was not a result of any of the above. I barely felt her at all. By 30 weeks I could feel it if she had a huge stretch and was pushing out the top and bottom simultaneously. Otherwise I only ever got a few flutters. DD was 6 weeks early but relatively large and extremely healthy. She is now nearly 7 years old, her teacher has just informed me her reading age is now about 11 and she keeps her teacher in giggles due to the one liners she comes out with in class.
