Newborn carseat, which one did you go for??

This is my third and just discovered our old carseat has had it! Things have changed so much since we bought ours 8 years ago now and I am so confused!
We don't need one that fits onto a pram as I have bought a second hand pram already, mountain buggy, which I don't think carries a carseat. (Also, don't think we can afford the isofix thingy). Need one for car journeys and to carry around for first few weeks, in and out of car on school run, etc.
So, need something a little bit lightweight, easy to get in and out, etc. We normally buy Britax so has anyone got the Britax Cosy Tot and are you happy with it? Any other recommendations?
Many thanks.

Have a look at www.kiddicare.com as they are pretty cheap.

Find a good independent retailer that has had training on the different models from different manufacturers and find out what fits your car.

SazzlesA, you are a star, never even knew this existed. I think the maxi cosi looks very comfy and if I can get it on the MB that would be fab, what a godsend! You are amazing, many thanks.

i personally prefer britax, they fit so easily into the car and are one of the lightest, i'm sure they fit on MB. I bought my sis the bebe confort creatis car seat which has been brillaint but its a bit heavier than most.

Ooh yes, I have the MB urban single, would assume it would fit but will ring MB tomorrow and check. Thanks again.

The strictest safety regulations are Australian standards (vs European), in Australia you are not allowed to transport a baby in a capsule as they have no side impact protection and are unable to be tethered in. The ones they sanctify are the ones you can turn around into forward facing and reclinable. Don't even know if you can get them in the UK though!

Not sure if it's any use, but according to Which testing the Maxi Cosi Cabrio is the best (only one they've rated as excellent).....
