Reduced movements

Hey!
I wondered if anyone else was in a similar situation?

Just for context, I have had a neonatal death and multiple miscarriages.

I have been in multiple times for reduced movements, had scans and everything looks fine.

Some days my baby moves loads and then the next, nearly nothing at all.

Has anybody else experienced this?

You're not meant to count the number of movements these days, it's more about you knowing your baby and if you feel they're different to get checked out. So routine is important. If they always seem alert at say dinner time but on a day they're not that's not normal for your baby. People can't just say once in 2 hours is ok as for your baby it might not be. Again op if your worried you go back, hope your ok 😊

@WhatMe123 this is what I'm finding really hard. He doesn't move at the same time every day. Sometimes he moves when I have my breakfast, and other days he doesn't. It's never the same routine.

@sel2223 thank you. I've had an anterior placenta both times and found movement hard to track

@Mill3nnial I'm so so sorry for losing your baby. It's is the most awful thing. I lost my daughter 4 years ago when she was two days old. I had a placental abruption and I didn't realise because I wasn't as nervous as I am now but the day of the abruption I did have reduced movements. Sending you a big hug. Xxx

I’m 30+2 and I also have had multiple miscarriages and infant loss. I thought feeling his movements would reassure me but I am so anxious! Like you one day he’s having a party in there and I am so relaxed then the next he’s moving but not as frequently, I’ve been to triage three times and thankfully he’s been fine and decided to show me up as soon as I got hooked up to the monitor lol I can’t seem to establish a ‘pattern’ I downloaded count the kicks app but I found that made my anxiety worse by trying to input into an app every time he moved, keeping track of his active days/ quieter days doesn’t seem to have much of a pattern either. I’m sorry I can’t be much more help

@angeltwinmumx thank you for your message. I am so sorry for what you have been through. I think it adds to the anxiety.

Has anyone else had movement that feels like really quick spasms? Like fast tapping? I'm worried he's having some some of seizure in there. It's not very often, maybe I feel it every few days.

It might be hiccups

Hhdxx · 10/12/2024 18:39

@sel2223 it's really really fast and last a couple of seconds. I'd say maybe 4 taps in 1 second. Almost like vibrating

Sorry it's me again! Does anyone sometimes just feel tapping in the same place for a few seconds rather than one big kick? I'm literally over thinking every symptom now!

@Hhdxx movements are very hard to describe and I get lots of different feelings- sometimes it's a tapping, sometimes more like bubbles popping inside, sometimes like a wave feeling. It also varies from a single movement to a succession of them.
Nearly 25 weeks now and just getting used to it all.

Hi OP, I also had an anterior placenta and my movement was different every day, right up to the end. Sometimes I'd feel loads and other times really not as much - very frustrating! Anytime it went extra quiet I did get it checked out though. I could generally rely on baby to have a good few kicks first thing after waking up in the morning and then at night when I was lying in bed. It wasn't always the same amount but there was always something at these times.
I also used to get that weird spasmy feeling and from my googling it's the baby's nervous system starting to figure things out - my daughter's foot used used to do a wee spasm in the same way for a few weeks after birth. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy

Hhdxx · 11/12/2024 19:34

@GreenFlamingo11 thank you for letting me know. That is really reassuring. It's so hard not thinking the worst, especially after having experienced the worst. I'm glad to hear your little one is here and safe xx

@sel2223 thank you for your reply. I'm presuming what I am feeling is normal. X

At that point baby still moves a lot. I remember feeling baby move some days a lot more than others, but also noticed on the days I couldn't feel much the movements I did feel were in a different place. So I figured baby was just in a position I couldn't feel as well. Also the style of movements changed a lot over time. The movements I felt at 28 weeks were very different than at say 34 weeks.

So definitely in the realm of normal sounding to me but no one couldn't blame you for being anxious! If you think reduced do go in. And also ask for more support.
