I had a sweep yesterday and on my notes this is what it says, does anyone know what any of this means? Lol
S &S done, BS = 5. Cx mid, < 1cm long, 2 cm
dilated, PP Vx at -2, well applied.

S&s = stretch and sweep
BS = Bishop score - a measure of how 'favourable' or ready for labour your cervix is
Cx mid = cervix midposterior. This is cervix position. Starts out far back, needs to move to the front, yours is in the middle
<1cm long = length or effacement. Most start out 3cm long or thick, effacement makes it thin out. So yours is effacing
2cm dilated = 2cm open
PP Vx at - 2 = presenting part vertex (baby's head) is at - 2 station. This is to do with how high up baby is in your pelvis. During a vaginal exam you can feel bony parts or stations of the pelvis, and you comment where baby's head is in relation to these parts of the pelvis. Highest felt would be - 4. Yours is average starting point pre labour.
Hope thís makes sense!

It means that your cervix (cx) has started to move forward (mid) - usually it's posterior and back behind the baby's head.
The cervix has started to thin out and get shorter (<1cm long) usually a long tube and it need to thin put before it can open, which it already has started to do (2cm dilated).
The baby's head (PP vx - presenting part, vertex) is 2cm above (-2) the ischial spines (landmarks on your pelvis that indicates how low down the baby is) and that baby is in a good position against your cervix (well applied).
All in all, I'd say that's all very positive and a good start! No indication of when labour will start though! Good luck!
