Which ones are you on and what are the side effects to the baby?
Anyone had good experiance with anti depressants? or suffered the side effects? I've heard the could cause premature birth?

I'm 7 months with my 3rd and I feel like I'm hitting rock bottom. can't sleep and when I do I have terrible nightmares. Ifeel the weight of the world is on my shoulders.

I been diagnosed with depression since I was 12 and have struggled with it ever since, counciling didn't help nor did the psycologists. tried serveral types of tablets but haven't been on any regularly for the last 5 or 6 years

I've tried taking citalopram in the past (just after I had dc1) but due to an allergy to yellow colour coatings I vomit them almost immeadiatly.

Please any advice would be really apreciated.

Bright, I agree with the previous post - you must try to see another GP. When I was pregnant, my GP said I must come off my ADs, so I did and was very poorly. Another GP basically said the first one was talking rubbish and I went back on them. Some docs are not up to date with current research and seem to think that pregnant women should put up with any old crap!

It's just so frustating that I had to pluck up all this gumption to actually go and fell so totally flat.
This is why I have done it on my own for so long. CPN took ages to get in contact last time I just hope this one can pull her finger out.
I've been registered at 4 different surgeries in the last 5 -6 years and all of them are useless.

I thankfully am going out of area to the hospital where I had my other two so I could be under the same consultant He's a lovely bloke and if I do get to see him at my next appointment on the 12th I'm going to talk to him. He's knows how bad I've been he even offered to put me on AD's when I was having my first baby weeks but we discovered dd was no longer growing so we opted for induction.

just have to sit a twiddle my thumbs til I hear from the CPN.

oh BandShiny I totally 100% agree! you must, must go see a different GP. Some of them just don't get it. If you turned up at mine, for example, you'd get loads of sympathy and practical help.

Please, please dont' give up, listen to us, and just take a deep breath, and go see someone else. Do you know any health visitors? Sometimes they can be a good alternate route.

I wanna get a stick and whack it against that stupid GP's knees. Hate to say it, but he was male, and that might be part of the problem. My Gp is female and I"m certain it makes a big, BIG difference.

GO on now, Tuesday morning, make that phone call. OK? good. Goodness I'm bossy now that I have two lo's.

Totally agree! Do change. I am so much better since I changed practices. I've got away without AD's and the minimum amount of medication! And I have counselling at the hospital which is great.

Let us know how it goes.

I've been registered at all the partices in my area before now. the one I'm at is the best. One of my previous ones even failed to diagnose (on serveral different occasions) that I am asthmatic! I am seeing the midwife tuesday for a check up and for my GTT results and hopefully find out if the physio has been in touch.

Male gp's are the worst. I may have to specifically request the female GP in future.

brightandshiny with CBT you are not expected to talk about past experiences or look back on them what you are looking at is how you think now and how this effects the way behave and feel and ways you can change them.

There are 2 free online CBT courses MoodGym is one I did not get on with but I wouder if you would the one I prefer is Living life to the full You have to register for both bit it does not lead to lots of spam and you can take it at your own pace and you have no on trying to direct you as to what you should or should not do.

I have taken prozac since before I was pregnant. I tried to stop when I first found out I was pregnant with my GP but became suicidal so have had to do it using liquid prozac and one mg at a time. They do prefer to get you off it or swap onto another one 2 weeks before you deliver as it has a long half life. I am now nearly off it at Christmas I was on 40mg I am now on 10mg something I feel helps me is omega 3 I stoped taking them for a while because they contained fish oils but I have found some suitable for vegetarians and have been back on them for last 3 months. Personally I am convinced they have helped me reduce the dose as much as I have. now have 5-10 weeks to reduce the dose further and get off totally

brightandshiny think it depends on the GP mine is brilliant I would not swap him for any one.
