Hi, I am hesitant to travel by bus

in pregnancy. Is it safe to go by city bus?

Most women do. Yes. It's safe.

MidnightPatrol · 25/11/2024 17:53

What exactly are you concerned might happen?

Adamsapple89 · 25/11/2024 18:11

A bus is like a big car. Of course it’s safe

mrssquidink · 25/11/2024 18:32

Yes. I went to all my hospital antenatal appointments by bus.

Potentiallyplausible · 25/11/2024 18:34

Eh? Why would it not? I travelled by bus and train every working day of my pregnancy.

Posithor · 25/11/2024 18:38

Why not? Some folks still need to get to work 😂

PoissonOfTheChrist · 25/11/2024 18:45

Really?!Confused

LadyKenya · 25/11/2024 18:47

Why the hesitation?

Nc546888 · 25/11/2024 18:49

Can’t tell if this is serious?

Needmorelego · 25/11/2024 18:51

Many women wouldn't be able to get to their appointments if they didn't use the bus.
What are you worried about?
Try and sit in the priority seats. If they are already taken then ask people in the other seats if they can give up their seat if you need to sit down - most people who can stand are happy to.
Get one of those "Baby on Board" badges which basically advertises you need a seat.

bohnerific69 · 25/11/2024 18:53

Are you worried because you obviously don't wear a seat belt so it's not the same protection as a car? It's still very safe. The likelihood of a bus crashing is quite low I'm sure.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 25/11/2024 18:54

Oh seriously?

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 25/11/2024 18:55

why would it not be safe in pregnancy? Can you imagine the NHS issuing “stay off the bus” guidelines?!

pinkdelight · 25/11/2024 19:00

Only if it's not one of those buses where they make you eat soft cheese and shellfish. Otherwise you'll be safe.

OptimisticRealist2024 · 26/11/2024 11:13

A lot of sarcastic responses here. It's safe, but if you have bad morning sickness you may not feel comfortable.

NewNameNoelle · 26/11/2024 11:15

Struggling to understand if this is real tbh.

Yes, it is perfectly safe to travel on public transport when pregnant. If it’s too crowded to get a seat you can wait for the next bus, or ask for a priority seat.

Many, many people travel on public transport when pregnant and then with their newborns and children.
