Hi I'm 21+4 today.
I had an emergency stitch put in last weekend at 20+3 for very short cervix 14mm-21mm.
Since I have been admitted to hospital on Tuesday for pain and discomfort also possible infection. They couldn't find no infection and I got let out Wednesday afternoon.
The pain hasn't stopped, it's very uncomfortable to walk or stand for longer than 5-10 mins.
Has anyone had this procedure done and have any positive experiences to share. Will this pain ease will it get easier?? Is my body rejecting the stitch. TIA :)

Hi Op I'm so sorry I don't have any answers but I'm actually sitting waiting in MAU thinking I may have the same thing with a shortened cervix do you mind me asking if you had symptoms? thank you!

@Livingonhope no symptoms, only had the cervical scan due to a C-section in my first pregnancy 16 years ago 😬 they found then it was too short. Hope everything well with you x good luck x

Hi there. I had a stitch put in 25+6. I was signed off work for 4 weeks until my follow up consultation. The first 10 days I was sore and I was on house rest for a week. My symptoms did ease and I did return to work (38 weeks I could get out dog walking for about 45 minutes). I understand how worrying it is. However, stay strong and hopeful! I have a little girl 5 months now and had a planned c section at 39 weeks (stitch was removed then).

Thank you for your reply @nataliecw88 I'm glad your stitch worked for you and you have a lovely healthy baby 👶🏻
I don't feel like my pain is getting any better, also the strong painkillers they prescribed me are going to run out.
I have been searching for people whose stitch failed and there have been positive results, I don't feel this is ever going to get better. But it has to stay put for my baby xx

Oh apologies I misread your post. I thought you were seeking some reassurance in having the stitch.
I do hope things work out for you. I use to think of every day as a positive in terms of baby's development. The days then turned into weeks, that's how I got through my pregnancy.
When I had my stitch put in, the midwife spoke very positively and reassuringly of having a baby at 26 weeks stating that a lot of babies go on to thrive now due to the level of medical intervention. I found this a comfort at the time. I'm sure you are aware they have lowered the medical intervention stage to 24 weeks too x

Just to add also I think I went into hospital twice after the stitch due to pain and discomfort. It's so hard not to overthink every twinge. I was terrified of an infection developing and I googled way too much! I was actually relieved to return to work, which I'm not sure many women at 30 weeks would say!

Thank you both for your replies.

I don't know what I was trying to ask, I have been In such a mess the last week, I just want to feel like I did before the stitch. Happy and content and not in any pain at all. I wouldn't have even known about the cervix but happy that they have interveined and potentially helped.
They didn't do any tests at all but that's interesting knowing that that could possibly be a cause for the discomfort.
I have pain still and on Saturday it would be 2 weeks since it went in. Unable to walk anywhere still.xx

I have a follow up next Tuesday, so another scan to check the length. Then I guess we go from there and see if it's actually doing anything. 22 weeks today so only another
2 to be classed as 'safe' but obviously want to keep him in as long as possible so will take their advice but if they say they can remove it and I just use the pessaries I'd probably be fine with that once I reach a 'safe' stage. With my daughter they didn't have these scans I went into labour with her at 31 weeks and they managed to stop it. This would probably be the reason but it was 13 years ago and they said they didn't have this research back then about csections at fully dilated causing these problems this is why they scan for it now.
