Maternity ALLOWANCE question (low earner)

Sleeponit · 23/11/2024 10:54

Hello, I currently earn about £105pw from my current job. Will I eligible for any maternity from government once I go off?

I've seen I won't get smp as I earn under £123pw. But I heard something about maternity allowance. I'm very confused. Thank you in advance

I thought maternity allowance is generally for those who are self employed or recently unemployed but previously in long term work.

Try the gov calculator to see if you get anything

WRONG.

You just need to have met an earnings threshold OP.

You’ll have found this when you googled. What is it that is unclear to you?

I don't understand how much I will I get and if I've paid contributions. I was just always under the impressions I won't be entitled to anything.

Will you have worked more than 26 weeks in the required time period? Will you have earned more than £30 in those weeks? This is nothing to do with any contributions.

if you click the weblink I posted you can see how much you would get. You’ve not given anyone here enough information to advise you. 🤷🏻‍♀️

dementedpixie · 23/11/2024 14:05

You need to submit payslips for the weeks you earned the most (to maximise your MA amount) and;

You’ll get £184.03 a week or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is less) for up to 39 weeks if you’re employed or have recently stopped working.

You can get Maternity Allowance for up to 39 weeks. This means if you take the full 52 weeks Statutory Maternity Leave, your final 13 weeks will be unpaid.

dementedpixie · 23/11/2024 14:10

Your employer will need to give you an SMP1 form to say you don't qualify for SMP and you need to supply that along with your payslips and the MA claim form

The amount you get depends on your salary in the 13 weeks worth of payslips you provide as it will be 90% of your usual weekly wage as you earn less than £184.03 which is what the full MA is.

You really need not reply if you have this attitude 😅

Does it make you feel good to go around being a little shit to people asking for help?

You’re going to have great fun keeping a little human alive if this is the first place you come for every question.

I was actually trying to help you.

Out of interest, does anyone know what the weather is going to be tomorrow? Without knowing where I am. Or how much bread is in my local corner shop? Do be kind with your responses - my needing you to do all the legwork to help me is absolutely my right, you know.

I know honestly it's so sad.

I'm pretty sure you'll get 90% of your average earnings but there's a calculator you can use to put your specific circumstances that might be more helpful! https://www.gov.uk/maternity-paternity-pay-leave

Good luck with your pregnancy xx

Check if you can get Maternity or Paternity Leave or Pay, or Maternity Allowance

Maternity or Paternity Leave or Pay, or Maternity Allowance for parents

Nice. It’s not her fault you seem incapable of using a simple government website.

Good luck with raising a baby babes! Xxx
