Trip abroad 35 weeks?

Is this cutting it too fine? I know some airlines ban flying by then but others allow till 36 weeks - I'd be returning at 35+3, it's for a wedding I'd like to go to. Planned c section at 39 weeks but I know I can't control that necessarily. What would others do?

So a few things to consider.

  1. Airlines require proof of fit to fly if you are that far along. Yeah they don’t always ask but you can be caught out and then you are stuck at the destination. You are asked both ways so you may also be denied boarding.
  2. Most fit to flys are 28 weeks (seven months) or less. You are well over this limit so I wouldn’t think your doctor would give permission.
  3. Insurance almost certainly won’t cover you if you are over 28 weeks if you do go into Labour, if there are any issues or you end up in hospital. I don’t know where you are going but two hours suggests Europe. We aren’t in the EU anymore so it’s far stricter.

Why would you chance it so close to your due date? I think you are potentially playing with fire.

Hi OP, I went abroad at 32/33 weeks, everything was fine. I wasn’t sure whether to go but my midwife was comfortable with me going, I was in mainland Europe, travel insurance covered me and I had my GHIC card. I think you can fly up to 36 weeks but check with your airline. Having said that, I’m not sure I would have gone at 35 weeks. Feels a bit close to me!
