Changing hospitals mid-pregnancy

Hi, could you please help? I'm 22 weeks pregnant and currently receiving care at one of the London maternity hospitals. Unfortunately, I’m not very happy with the experience and would like to transfer to UCLH as it still quite close to me. I noticed there’s a referral form on their website, and it mentions that if you’re transferring, you need to state the reason for the change.

Has anyone here had experience transferring hospitals mid-pregnancy? If so, could you please share the reason you provided for the transfer? Does the hospital you wish to transfer to needs to be your local one? Additionally, if you’ve had any experience with UCLH maternity services, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thank you💗

Can’t advise on UCLH, but I moved hospitals at about 24 weeks. Had to fill in the online referral again, and have another booking appointment. Had to go through the whole lot of questions again. Was a faff but no choice as I moved house whilst pregnant.
I can’t remember exactly which things, but some things they were fine with but some things I had to have re-done. They were content with my scans at the other hospital, but had to have some bloods redone I think, and the trust gave growth scans at different stages of pregnancy, so they had to all be rebooked.

Just give a basic reason like this one is closer and I would prefer to be closer to home for when I go into labour. Done!!

they are asking in case it’s something more pressing like my baby is small and this hospital is better for premmie babies etc

Used to work next door to UCLH when pregnant, so had all my antenatal appointments there.
When i was about to commence maternity leave, I self-referred to the maternity service closer to home, where I later had my baby.
I'm sure most hospitals accept self referrals for maternity services.

I transferred mid pregnancy due to moving from zone 1 to zone 6. I was originally with UCLH and I thought they were pretty good. They had included an additional later scan that my new hospital wouldn't have otherwise offered but they gave to me as it was written in my notes from UCLH.The MyCare app that they use is also really good for appointment notes, the hospital commented on how good the notes were.
Hope that helps but let me know if you have any questions!
