Breech baby at 35 weeks - ECV experiences?

I am 35 weeks pregnant today and had the midwife on Friday who said baby is now lying in the “frank breech” position.
Baby had been “transverse breech” up until 32 weeks then went head down so I was delighted but has now turned again and I’m feeling very deflated and upset about this. I would ideally like a vaginal birth but this is looking less likely. They have offered ECV to turn the baby which I am leaning toward rather than a c section. I am also worried that if I get the ECV and it is successful that the baby could then turn back round anyway as it has done this already.
Does anyone have any experience of this please? More looking for positive stories if possible please 😬

My baby was breech and I just didn’t like the sound of ECV. Sounds painful to me and I don’t know why but I thought it might be distressing for baby. (Nothing to back that up with). I went for C section and was such a smooth and stress free procedure. DD arrived safe and well and everyone’s different but my recovery was fine. Abit sore but on my feet the next day and moving fine within a few days Within reason.

Given your username, I just want to give you a small piece of hope. I didn't need the ECV because baby turned all on their own!

It was my second as well, and even though I'd been told cephalic at every appointment, a scan at 36 weeks revealed the truth that baby was in fact frank breech. The midwife and GP had never sounded 100% sure so I'll let them off. The sonographer said that second+ babies are likelier to turn later, which turned out to be true

Anyway, I had an ECV booked for 37+2, but after talking to the consultant at 36+6 (I also had pre-eclampsia) a quick scan revealed baby had turned. Given baby has been turning by themselves, there's a good chance it could still happen.

I had an ecv for Frank breech in week 38 with my first, discovered the day before, despite my constant concern that the kicks weren't where they should be. Ecv failed and was bloody horrible. Elective cesarean was fine, nasty recovery though for me. Ds was an extremely tall baby, I wondered if that contributed - his head was stuck under my left ribcage.

My second baby was much more compact and in the correct position. Had a great vbac, albeit with shoulder dystocia. Excellent recovery.

Don't lose hope of a vaginal delivery! DD2 was frank breech from 28w, confirmed at growth scans at 28w and 36w. Checked periodically as I was being monitored due to developing preeclampsia. I declined ECV and opted for ELCS, which was booked for 39+5. Checked in triage for reduced movements at 39+1 and she was still breech. Waters broke at 39+3 so rushed to triage and she had turned head down! Had a speedy vaginal delivery that morning. Hopefully someone will be along with ECV advice but it could still happen for you too. When she was born, she had an unusually long cord which is why I think she couldn't get herself turned.

I had ECV and I was induced straight after. This was at my request and they accepted. I was 38 weeks pregnant. It all went smoothly but, baby was my 5th and the consultant was very positive he would move as he had loads of space.

I had an evc, baby was breech and I wanted to know that I had done everything I could to avoid a c section.
It was uncomfortable but not painful and baby was monitored the whole time and after.
It was successful so I carried to term and ended up having a water birth and great recovery.
I was told so many horror stories before I was worried but I don't think you get to hear the success stories.
You have to make the right choice for you.

I had a complete breach at 37wks and ECV didn't work and was more painful than labour. Went for c section.

TBH the recovery from c section was way easier than normal birth

Thank you everyone for your replies! I am keen to avoid a c section due to having a very energetic toddler and also moving house just after Christmas (Baby is due just before Christmas all going well).

Glad to hear some positive ECV stories. Think I will give this a try and hope I can birth naturally again 🤞
