Scan at 4 weeks - should I worry?

Had 2 previous MC, both diagnosed at 12 week scan. Currently 4+1 pregnant for 3rd time.

I had a scan yday (as part of standard recurrent MC follow up) and just so happened to have had a positive pregnancy test that morning. Nothing was visible but I wouldn’t expect it to be at this stage. However Drs then also took bloods and are bringing me back in for another scan today.

Why scan me again at 4+1, isn’t that just too early to see anything? I’m sure of dates due to fertility treatment. Could there be some cause for concern that they haven’t mentioned to me?

No idea why they want to rescan, maybe just to rule out an ectopic?

You're right, there won't be anything to see

Is this via private fertility care/ private treatment?

Hi all, no it is NHS!

A scan that early is usually only to confirm location. I had one at 4+2 which did see the embryo in my uterus but clearly that early things can be a bit hit and miss. Was it a frozen transfer? I know those can be a few days behind which could make a big difference to whether anything is visible at this stage.

To add: even if it wasn't a frozen transfer not seeing anything at this stage is surely quite usual. I don't think you should worry.

I had one this early with one pregnancy. It was a location scan to rule out ectopic, but really they should have communicated that to you. Good luck! 💐
