Isabella Oliver/Seraphine maternity jeans...are they comfy and are they worth the £££?

Last pregnancy I lived in a pair of Dorothy Perkins under the bump jeans which were fab but sadly disintegrated after months of wear.

I'm not keen on their current range of styles but my tummy was so stretched by my last pregnancy (twins) that I need some maternity jeans this time around very soon.

I prefer under the bump as I find over the bump so uncomfy. Am happy to wear long vests to cover any gaps.

Are Isabella Oliver jeans worth the £££? They do seem horrendously expensive but if I'm going to be wearing them for months (all being well) I'm happy to fork out.

Seraphine jeans got recommended to me but they look like they might be very low cut at the back and I don't particulary want to flash my bum at the world.

I'm about 5ft 7 and a size 12.

Any advice gratefully recieved

Hi Hatty

All these Gap maternity jeans are under the bump. My friend swears by the boot cut ones. I think I will get these once my bump appears.

I had Seraphine jeans and they were very comfy, and I can't remember any botty-baring. I actually wore them for months a little while after the birth, as they were so flattering and easy to wear.

My only gripe was that I bought the long size, rather then the regular, and they really were very long, even though I'm usually a long-legger. My own fault of course for being too impatient to exchange them. However, I'm 5'6'' so maybe your extra inch would make all the difference.

I have just got some Seraphine cord jeans in the sale and I am about your height and size (5'8" and 12-14). They are fab! Very comfy, very stylish. I'm guessing they are cut similarly to the denim jeans. I got the long size because that's all they had left in the sale, but easy enough to take up (I'm also usually a long legger, but clearly the French are very tall!). I have worn them almost every day for the week I have had thee - would definitely recommend them at full price!

I found my Seraphine jeans very low at the back and could only wear them with long tops. They also needed pulling up every 5 minutes (and they're definitely not too big). I actually can't bear to wear them.

With maternity jeans I'd recommend wearing them for a couple of hours at home (with all the labels on) so you can get a true picture of how they fit.

I love my Seraphine skinnies but they are quite low and need a bit of hoisting up here and there.
Have you tried Zara - they do boot and skinny and are low cut with a huge bump band - and cheaper (generally £39).

Love my Seraphine jeans too (they have two models I think, one with the stretch panel all the way at the front and one with little stretch panels at the sides - I've got the first type, thrilled to escape buttons and zips!). Adore mine, look just like my 7 jeans. Really, really flattering. Am definitely going to carry on with them for a long time after the baby's out, means I will never have to surreptitiously (sp?!) undo the top buttons when sitting down after dinner again! The drawback is like everyone else has mentioned - very regular hoisting up required (though not low cut when hoisted!).

Try Creation Maternity's jeans ... I've got two pairs and they are fantastic. They only have one style but its classic with no fuss. A lot cheaper than Seraphine/IO as well at 32 quid. www.creationmaternity.com

Thanks all this is really really helpful - am slightly concerned about the builders bum look with the serpahine - I do spend a lot of time sat on the floor or crouched down with my toddlers and if I'm holding 2 little hands at once I might get driven mad by slipping down jeans!

I do find over the bump really uncomfy though. Might try them on at home for a while as suggested - Gap and Creation look good too! Thank you all!

Good luck with your jeans hunt. I think when it comes to mat jeans your own size and shape plays a huge part and it's def down to trial and error.

I've got the boyfriend cut jeans from Jojomamanbebe and the under the bump waistband on those is really secure. Might be worth a look if you're looking for something to kick about in. They're not the most stylish, but only £29 and very comfy (I'm 7 months pregnant and at the comfort over style stage!).

I've got some great under the bump jeans from New Look maternity section - £12!!
They look smart, and stylish and just like normal jeans (in fact several people have asked if they are actually maternity jeans!) I love them but still find - like all maternity trousers - that I am yanking the back up to stop the bottoms dragging on the ground!

i have the wide leg seraphine jeans and i like them. really comfy. i am 5,9 and size 14

Thanks so much all! I got all excited about ordering the seraphine jeans - and they have none in stock in the bootleg style for 8 weeks!! Grrr..

Have ordered a couple of pairs from next - which I can always send back - just to get me through to 12 weeks. If all is well with the babe will then get a more expensive pair - last pregnancy I wore my favourite maternity jeans for a good 6 months after the birth so I get my money's worth!

Thanks so much for all your help!

I bought a pair of Seraphine jeans, and they were AWFUL, don't waste your money. I found that i had to hitch them up all the time - in the end had to keep them held up with a belt. I know that others think they are great, but this was my experience.
