Placenta Previa-the risks?

Our daughter is 33 pregnant and has placenta previa. She has been told it's very unlikely to move now and has been booked in for a C-section at 37 weeks.
We fully understand the reasons for this but just wondered if anyone has any positive stories/happy endings as we're all feeling a bit worried 😟

I had this and was told at 32 weeks. Had loads of scans and had c section at 38 weeks. DD was also transverse and I had a massive chocolate cyst on my ovary. Birth was absolutely fine and she is 12 in February. Good luck but honestly it will be fine xx

Thank you so much for this-it's very reassuring!

Yep I had it at 20 week scan and baby had moved by 39 weeks, I had a C-section anyway and she was low down but no problem. She's 33 weeks? (Sorry not sure if you meant she's 33 years old or 33 weeks!) baby could still move but a scheduled c section is a very safe way of getting baby out, they deal with all the time so try not to worry!

I had it and had to be in hospital after a bleed at 30 weeks and again a couple of weeks later. DS was born by emergency section at 35 weeks and all was fine. They watch very closely. She should ask her consultant what the plan is as she may need to brace herself for a stay in hospital prior to the birth, which can be very frustrating when you're desperate to be home getting ready for the baby and you feel absolutely fine.

Mine was stage 4

Thank you.
Yes, she's aware she may have to go in prior to the C section date and isn't going anywhere too far from home at the moment!

I had this 15 years ago. Because it was a planned C-section (not an emergency) it was actually a really positive experience. Your daughter can make a birth plan - does she want skin to skin? Does her birth partner want to cut the cord? Yes it is an operation, but has a v different “vibe” than you might expect.
It also means she can plan for afterwards - no driving for 6 weeks (the advice might have changed), no lifting other than the baby (not even a kettle!). My advice to her would be take all the pain relief afterwards u til it runs out - you only “feel fine” because you have built up a steady amount. Also get a wound-protector so you don’t worry about baby accidentally kicking the wound.

I had this with my son and it didn't move up even though everyone said it would 😂 I had a planned section at 37 weeks and it went very smoothly and he came out just perfect 😊

Great news that it's moved. I had this, my midwife told me to do lots of pelvic rocking and that managed to shift him!

I had this 14 years ago. Had ds2 at 38 weekes by csection. Towards the end I was very uncomfortable as ds was sitting right under my ribs. I had one night in for observation at 37 weeks as I was so uncomfortable and the medics were nervous about me having a bleed. As we only live about 15 mins from hospital (if there are no traffic jams) they let me home. I never bled. Delivery was fine - lost a litlle more than average blood but didnt need a transfusion just some iron pills for a month or tqo.
