Nausea/ sickness taking over my life

Just a moan really. I am 6/7 weeks with my second and i’m feeling horrific. Had the nausea for over a week (constantly) alongside bad headaches which usually hit around 3pm each day and last all night. And now the actual sickness has started.
I already have a toddler - who i was very sick with too until about 14 weeks. So i kind of expected it, but absolutely forgot how bad it was!!
Im just really struggling to cope with it, i’m bed bound with the sickness and everytime i move i gip!
Anyone had anything that helps them? I am wearing ‘sea bands’ but they are not doing anything!

Please go and see your GP or call Pregnancy Sickness Support for advice. You can get medication to help with this and don’t have to suffer through it. It’s absolutely rubbish but there is help available.

GP if you are bed bound. Things that helped me with hyperemesis:
Nibbling dry biscuits
Porridge
Pineapple
Ice lollies
Sucking boiled sweets
Sipping very cold drinks
Anti sickness medication
Rest

Sea bands are honestly a lot of shite.

Ultimately if you have HG you're in for an unpleasant few months and you just need to get through as best as you can. I was hospitalised for rehydration at 11 weeks and ended up off work for 3 months. I used to retch and piss myself. That was fun. They'll tell you it'll get better at 12 weeks- if it's HG it probably won't. I had my first day of not feeling sick at 5.5 months. Then vomited the next day.

Not saying that to make you feel worse - when everyone told me I'd get better at 12 weeks and I didn't, I thought there was something seriously wrong with me. It's just better to be realistic

Thank you both @Anothernamechane @Nomnomnew i am going to call the docs on monday and get something, i just can’t cope with it!

I’ll also try a few of those foods, ice lolly’s might be a good one!

Also to add if anyone has been on the anti-sickness meds, is there any better than others?

Highly recommend you call the GP and ask for nausea meds.. I've been on them since week 9 and my days have become a lot easier.

I also have a toddler so it was pretty horrid before the meds.

Anothernamechane · 08/11/2024 17:06

It's trial and error. I had a couple in the beginning which helped a bit but they finally gave me ondansetron when I couldn't keep water down. They won't start you on that though and I had to fight for it.

SnapdragonToadflax · 08/11/2024 17:06

Definitely anti-sickness meds. I didn't and suffered until mine went around 20 weeks, and I really should have just got some help. I had such bad headaches around 9/10 weeks I couldn't lift my head off the pillow.

Be warned, it might come back in the later stages of pregnancy too.

sel2223 · 08/11/2024 17:32

It's so much harder with the second when you're looking after your first born, isn't it?
I don't think I fully appreciated how hard it would be.

I'm 20 weeks now and seem to be out the other side with the sickness thankfully but the tiredness and headaches are still pretty debilitating.

We just have to keep focusing on what we're doing this for!

CadoAvo · 15/11/2024 15:41

@AmberM223 how are you getting on now?

I'm currently 6+3 and sooooo miserable from the nausea and don't know how I'll cope going forward 😪
