How far along are you pet? I only ask as if in later stages it can be a sign of PE, so be aware of that.

Fllight · 26/04/2008 19:34

Pre eclampsia I mean.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 26/04/2008 19:40

I am 28 weeks now, it's my 4th baby and I always carry them high up front, am guessing that's the main cause.

In desperation asked my pharmacy if I could take pills rather than drinking gallons of gaviscon which isn't working and tastes vile. She cheerfully told me no.

Am now at the point where I throw up it gets so bad.

Sorry just wanted to have a moan.

I know! I felt like I was in a living hell for a couple of weeks when it was so bad that I couldn't sleep, eat much or do much of anything really. Then suddenly one night baby moved down a bit and it was as if someone flicked a switch, the sky was blue, I could hear birds singing, I could actually start functioning again! So I sympathise. How far along are you?

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 26/04/2008 19:42

Franke not sleeping either have also got crippling pain in my hips at night, when I turn over it feels like 6-7 clicks across my pelvis when I move.

Have seen physio and she gave me crutches, not much use to me as I am pushing a double buggy!!!

See told you I am a world class moaner tonight!

Have you tried all the weird remedies - some people swear by vinegar, some by bicarb, almonds, yoghurt the list is endless. I found (after reading many threads on here) that raising my right arm above my head gave me a little relief. Oh but it is ghastly, I really feel for you.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 26/04/2008 19:45

In between typing I have both my arms raised above my head, my dh thinks I'm nuts!

No I didn't mean to be odd or anything, just reminds me of the time Liegeandlief diagnosed PE here on MN, when a woman was about 30 weeks iirc and haing nasty pain under her ribs.
Please bear it in mind - do you usually get this?

franke · 26/04/2008 19:46

Sitting upright in a nice relaxing bath? And you're looking after two/three other little ones too . I wish I could offer you a magic solution.

Fllight · 26/04/2008 19:47

I had bad heartburn btw but it didn't feel painful really just burning inside. Hope you can find a way to make it go x

Pollyanna · 26/04/2008 19:47

my dr prescribed ranitidine for me which is much better than gaviscon - I took it in pregnancy. I sympathise, my heartburn was awful in my last pregnancy.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 26/04/2008 19:50

Fllight thanks for worrying, sadly it is normal for me with the last 3 pregnancies too.

I tell you what though this is absolutely, postively the very last time I ever do this!

Thing is everyone always says how nice to have a bump right at the front (when viewed from behind I do not look pregnant apparently)

I wish I looked like the side of a bus but with no heartburn!!!

You CAN get help....honestly. I had bad heartburn last pregnancy but nothing like this time round. It's made vomit, I could barely breath and then blood taste in my mouth.

GP said Ranitidine was fine to take....needs to be prescribed....and it's a Blo*dy miracle!!! Wish I'd asked for it sooner as last gp told me there was nothing I could take...Gggrrrrrr. Made such a difference to my life.

Go get it now!!

Rynny · 26/04/2008 21:48

Gallons of milk and Rennie fruity things although they are stating to make me gag I've had so many of the things. I too completely sympathise because, as well as bad heart burn in both pregnancies, I've also had my gall bladder removed and had horrendous pain with gall stones. Gaviscon really is evil stuff.

lollipopmother · 26/04/2008 21:58

I'm just starting to get heart burn, I hope it doesn't get as bad as yours. Mine makes me feel like I'm still swallowing my lunch 5 hours later, with awful burning/restriction in my throat, it woke me up at 1.30am the other morning in agony, and I had an awful cough ever since. At least at the moment Rennie is doing the business, long may it continue.

lackaDAISYcal · 26/04/2008 22:07

my GP prescribed "mallox" tablets for me when pregnant with DS...they worked a treat, but when he gave me a box of 100 when I was five months pregnant, I thought "as if!".....I had to go back for more at 36 weeks!

I had Gaviscon advance prescribed for my second pregnancy, but I don't think it was as effective as the mallox.
