2 miscarriages at 43

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone could share any tips or positive stories about getting pregnant after 2 miscarriages at 42 and 43.

My partner and I seem to get pregnant ok but then the miscarriages have happened around 7 weeks and 5 weeks (that's when they stopped growing). First was a missed miscarriage (had MVA procedure) and second happened naturally.

Also, did anyone start trying again before their first period after the miscarriage? Not sure what to do about that one as feel like I'm short on time.

Thanks

I’m so sorry for your loss OP. I had a miscarriage at seven weeks with my first pregnancy and conceived my daughter without waiting for a period. They only advise you to wait for dating purposes which doesn’t massively apply if you track your ovulation (and for mental health purposes if you feel you need the time). I really wanted to try again quickly and I got pregnant about two weeks after my miscarriage.

Wishing you all the best, be gentle with yourself x

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I'm also 43 and just had one at 7 weeks too. Personally I'm going to wait until I've had my first period to try again just to give the uterine lining longer to heal but I totally understand you feeling like you're short on time. Take care and wishing you all the best ❤

Hi @Aquacoast9 , just following along as I'm in a similar situation to you. I turned 42 last month and have just had my third loss this year (a miscarriage at 5 weeks, a ruptured ectopic requiring emergency surgery to remove tube, and now a missed miscarriage which I had surgical management for a week ago). I also feel like time is against me and want to start trying again without waiting for a period (after the ectopic I had to wait 3 months which felt like a lot of wasted time)... I do have the slight niggling concern when people talk about waiting for a period/waiting for the uterine lining to repair but also want to make the most of the fact that apparently you're extra fertile after the loss.

Sorry, just rambling which isn't helpful to you but hopefully others can add positive stories on here.

Really sorry to hear about your losses. Slightly different situation as I'm 33, but we had 3 miscarriages last year so have done lots of research. One book I found really helpful that you may or may not have come across is "It starts with the egg". It has lots of advice about lifestyle, supplements and tests. The way it's written, you could almost expect to conceive triplets any second now, it's so confident - I'm not sure you can really expect such extraordinary results as they claim, but I do think there's something in it. I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant with our first pregnancy since reading the book and following its advice. We conceived on 2nd month of trying, after a 3 month break to take all the supplements (I don't think you necessarily have to wait this long, but we needed a break having had 3 losses). I also took aspirin 150mg each day and heparin prescribed by the recurrent miscarriage clinic. You can ask your GP to do miscarriage investigations after 2 miscarriages, but you can't always get a clinic referral until 3. But you can buy the aspirin in boots, so might as well try that anyway. Hope that helps :)
