Hi, I really need to hear some positive stories at the moment, a very worrying time.

I got pregnant straight after DH and I got married at the age of 39. I had multiple miscarriages, followed by IVF that didn’t work, followed by two more very, very early miscarriages. We gave up and made other plans. Then a year later, when I was 44, DC was born. It was a wonderful surprise and she is a happy, healthy toddler.

An even bigger surprise occurred earlier this year when I went to see my doctor about menopause symptoms. I’m 46 years old and pregnant again.

Miscarriages are awful. I’m sorry you have been through that. But every pregnancy is different. I hope your next will have a rainbow at the end. 💐

I had two miscarriages, IUI but then miscarried again and then got pregnant naturally and had a healthy baby.

I'm the only one of four girls in the family to have miscarriages and struggle to get pregnant but everyone's different and unless you have been through it it's very difficult to understand.

Even though I now have a child I will never forget being in the position you are in now and I send you hope and luck for a healthy pregnancy.

My second child was my fifth pregnancy. I was nearly forty. He's a fine and healthy 14 year old now. Hang in there.

I had 2 miscarriages in a row aged 37/38. One MMC and one natural miscarriage. I decided to throw everything I could at getting a pregnancy to stick so did the following (which may have been purely coincidental):

  • Saw a nutritionist and followed a healthy eating plan (as did DH);
  • Saw a fertility specialist and took high dose folic acid, Clexane and progesterone;
  • Took all the vitamins and supplements set out in "It Starts with the Egg". DH also had supplements too.

I got pregnant very quickly each pregnancy, and it was third time lucky for us, after implementing the above. I had DD a week off turning 40 and she's now coming up for 3.

I am currently 37 and had 3 recurrent MMCs from 35. We had a small break of trying after the second to have some tests and wait for the results (APS etc), in the end they found nothing hugely wrong, but I was given progesterone from day 21 due to low prog during my leutal phase, low dose asprin from positive test (75mg a day) and extra high dose folic acid from positive test. My third was also an MMC but as I had so many early scans I knew what was happening, and it was very much a chromosome issue this time.

But I'm now currently 22 weeks pregnant with a very healthy pregnancy, and have had nothing worrying happen at all (apart from feeling very sick in tbe first trimester!). I really think the extra things I was taking helped me somehow, even it can never be proven! I also conceived the first month of trying with the most recent two pregnancies, so the progesterone from day 21 definitely helped me.

I'm sorry you are going through this, it can be so lonely. But there are so many positive stories, so there is hope as well x

Bobbyelvis4ever · 07/11/2024 14:39

I had my first baby at almost 36. 2 miscarriages at 39, and a healthy baby at 40. It's tough going, especially when you feel time isn't on your side. I got pregnant very easily every time, but obviously not all were healthy.

Hang in there, there's definitely hope. Fingers and toes crossed for you x

Following with interest. I've had 2 miscarriages this year. First at 7 weeks just before my 35th birthday, second at 8 weeks shortly after my 35th birthday.

I'm now 35.5 and pregnant for the third time (5+2) so really hoping this is our sticky bean.

How are you feeling OP?

ncforschoolhelp · 07/11/2024 16:31

Yes; following 2 MMC at 36 and 37 I had my second baby at 38. It was a bleak time and I worked very hard on my health before falling pregnant, it was a very tough pregnancy mentally due to being so anxious at the prospective of a 3rd loss, but my DS is now 16 months old.

I took progesterone for the first 16 weeks in the pregnancy.

Wishing you all of the very best.

lifehappens12 · 07/11/2024 16:43

Yes!

Gave birth to my first son age 38.

Two miscarriages just before I turned 40 and 6 months later. Both at week 8/9

Gave birth to my second son aged 41

After my first mc it felt like it took so long to get gregnant again. I saw a consultant (privately) with my first mc due to near 1 week await for an EPU appointment: she prescribed my letrozole and my next two pregnancies were thanks to this I think

It has been nice to hear the stories. Please keep me updated on how you get on and I wish you all the best. I feel ok, but worried. We will most likely resume trying next year.

Yes!

I had one mmc followed by 3 early losses. Maybe more. I just stopped testing in the end and put heavy bleeding down to a heavy period.

I was a bit older than you and i already had 4 children born before i was 35.

I was 37 and 38 when i had all these losses in a row. It really was getting too much to take so we had a full year off trying.

And then i had a normal pg and healthy baby at 40.

ElinorOlifunt · 07/11/2024 16:57

Hi I got pregnant 1st time trying at 37, MMC then 2 chemicals later finally got a pregnancy to term at 39 (almost 40). Tried again, a year after DS was born, with 2 more chemicals, started progesterone pessaries for a 3rd pregnancy and reassurance scan showed a heartbeat but this resulted in another MMC. Another chemical then had another child (aged 42) supported the last 2 pregnancies with progesterone with varying success.

Basically been pregnant 9 times in the last 6 years with 2 carried to term. My EPU were massively supportive with progesterone offered from BFP and reassurance scans at 6-7 weeks. I appreciate I've been lucky to have the 2 i have and I'd advise building a relationship with your EPU.

We couldn't afford private routes but were finally seen by the recurrent MC team but by then were pregnant with my now 4 month old. I think you need 3 losses to get referred but you could lie and have a chemical this cycle to meet that criteria. The wait for us was 11 months from referral to appointment.

I do remember searching MN for threads like this looking for hope. Pregnancy after loss is not easy and to just 'keep trying' is incredibly disheartening when you're suffering. Be kind to yourself

Scorpion84 · 07/11/2024 17:37

I had 6 miscarriages ( 2 were mmc) and I had my daughter ( 7th time lucky ) I was 37 at the time .

looking back I don't know how I kept trying .

HerbaceousPerennial · 07/11/2024 17:39

Two MMC aged 36, both diagnosed around 11/12 weeks. One had a lot of complications so took ages to resolve. Currently 15 weeks with what I am hoping is my rainbow baby, aged 37. I’ve not done anything differently. It’s a really difficult thing to go through OP but don’t lose hope x

PurpleThistle7 · 07/11/2024 17:50

I am so sorry for your loss.

I had two missed miscarriages at 30/31 and my daughter at 32. Had no issues at all when I had my son at 36. A friend of mine had 3 losses and had her sons at 38/42 - actually quite a few of my friends lost pregnancies and then had children in their late 30s / early 40s now that I think about it.

Beautifulweeds · 07/11/2024 17:55

My experience has been that everyone who has had miscarriages has gone on to full term pregnancy. Some was one or two, others several, but all have healthy children. It just seems the fact you can pregnant means you exactly that, you can conceive, may take time for full term but, as I said, just from my own experiences, keep going and good luck! Xx

Wise0wl · 07/11/2024 22:49

I’m so sorry you’re going through this @SophieRules. I had two consecutive MMCs last year aged 35. I’m now 36 weeks pregnant at 36. The journey has been long and hard and lonely, but I’m so glad now we kept trying. With this pregnancy I had been taking CoQ10 for 3 months (as had DH), I exercised more, took baby aspirin and progesterone from early scan at the EPU (6+5). I was also kinder to myself, and did more things to look after me. I wish you all the luck on your journey and please PM me if I can be of any help x

NeatZebra · 22/08/2025 10:16

Hi, I know this is an old post but how long did you take all the supplements from it started with an egg for before TTC again? I have Endo so don't want to wait too long. Currently waiting for this misscarriage to complete and want to take my supplements and TTC as soon as I can xxx

Baby26 · 22/08/2025 10:21

Following!
I have 1DS, who is 3. All very easy then, no losses. Since trying for a 2nd, I've had 3 losses (1 was a chemical), currently going through the 3rd one right now. Will be 35 soon.

ActuallyRomantic · 22/08/2025 10:27

.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/08/2025 10:33

I had five miscarriages aged 33/34, then my first child at age 35 and my second child at age 36 (no more miscarriages).

NeatZebra · 22/08/2025 14:15

Did you do anything differently or find out the cause of the 3 miscarriages? I think mines egg quality as I'm 37, first loss was confirmed chromosomal and this one has all the markers ie slow growth etc but not tested. x
