I am week 24 now and I am a little stressed because I felt the wee one move like non stop for weeks, very active. But now I don't feel her as much. Is it normal that they become less active like this?

Any kind of reduced movements like this, please always call the number you have been given for your maternity unit as soon as you can.

It may be nothing. It may be something. But always get it checked.

Hi @MonkeyTales you are always urged for any changes in movement to contact your local service as they may wish to check all is well. Seeking their advice and reassurance sooner rather than later is always best, because if there is an issue it means they can act. Please phone to explain and see what they say 😊

Thank you, I will call them first thing in the morning

@MonkeyTales don't feel you have to wait until tomorrow, you have every right to ring no matter the time on an evening.

Call triage straight away

Don’t wait until morning - if you have reduced movements then call them as soon as you can. I.e. now.

Absolutely go tonight, even just to put your mind at ease. You will never regret being cautious whereas you might regret taking a risk.

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/11/2024 21:53

Any change in movement should be checked out immediately. Go and be seen now.

Baby is still small enough to hide in some funky nooks and crannies, which is probably what’s happening here. My son would hide for a couple of days at a time around a similar time. But I echo the other posters and say go get checked out, just to be on the safe side ☺️

Totally agree. Always get reduced movements checked OP, but at this gestation it's really common that they've just wriggled somewhere awkward - so hopefully nothing to worry about

sel2223 · 05/11/2024 23:45

Hi OP. I agree with the other responses, please get some proper advice tonight, you can call your maternity unit.

I had a lot of issues with reduced movements in my first pregnancy and all turned out absolutely fine (DD1 is now 4) but it is much better safe than sorry.

As another poster said, It can be perfectly normal for the pattern of movements to change several times before the third trimester as baby still has quite a bit of space to move around and little nooks and crannies to tuck themselves into. After 28 weeks you'd expect less change as they have less room so settle into a position.

You still need to get checked though, just to be sure.

anonny55 · 05/11/2024 23:53

Go to your local maternity unit..call up and let them know you're on your way. Same happened to me and he was fine just still quite small so was tucked up and I couldn't feel much really but they were more than happy to see me and urged me to go in asap if it happens again. (I stupidly waited 2 days before I called anyone)

MonkeyTales · 06/11/2024 09:10

Thanks for your advice guys, I was told to eat toast with jam and lay on my left side and count movements over 90 min. Felt some so they said it was okay and I should do that every now and again and keep monitoring it. Hopefully she is just hiding away like some of you said..

Just to say, I am around 23 weeks and I am definitely having some days with more movements and some with less. I have an anterior placenta so not sure if that's cushioning some movements, I also feel kicks very low down so I think she's tucked herself away! Glad that you got some advice and hope everything is okay.
