Cramps and bloating

Hi,

I recently found out that I am expecting. I am not sure how far exactly, but I have my first midwife appointment next week (I am at least a month).

For about 4 days, I had cramps and bloating in my lower abdomen, which was happening during the day and night, but since yesterday and today, the pain and bloating have disappeared.

I haven't bled, no fever, headaches etc.

I spoke to pharmacists who said it's normal or to see a doctor.

I am just worried that something is wrong, but I might not be able to get an appointment tomorrow.

I had that for months and was so worried but it was normal apparently

I had that as well, I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and all is ok! When you say midwife appointment, do you mean your booking appointment? As you don't have that till 8-10 weeks?

@LozC0411 thank you for your reply. I'm not sure if it's called that, but when I found out I was pregnant, I was told to contact my local midwife service to see someone. The woman (the midwife) contacted me soon afterwards to arrange an appointment with her

@PrincessHoneysuckle thank you for your reply! I have read different things and some have said it was normal, but other ones have said it means there's a problem.

Oh I see... Usually your first midwife appt is called a booking appointment, they ask you loads of questions and do some tests (urine, blood, blood pressure and a carbon monoxide one?) and it's between 8-10 weeks, and then you get given your 12 week scan date too! I don't know if that's different for certain areas but that's how it goes in the Midlands. Either way, it's a really exciting time, and I know the cramps etc is scary but your body is changing so much, I was told it's because of that. Cramps are only usually a problem paired with bleeding or if the pain is unbearable. Try steer clear of Google (it's the devil when pregnant) Best of luck with it all, and congratulations xx

@LozC0411 thank you! I don't have anyone to talk to about these kinds of things, so I'm trying to learn as I go. I tend to over assume the worst case scenario. Thank you that is good to know and thank you 😊 xx

I’m by all means no expert and I also came on here for help/ advice as I was in the same boat, so I can help as best as I can and we’ll learn together😂 I know this first trimester is just so stressful isn’t it!! But when you have your first scan it really does ease your mind so much it’s amazing x

Totally normal. Think it’s your womb stretching. I had it on and off throughout. Felt a bit like period pains
