Help me please. I am in chronic pain with the glorious pregnancy piles! I'm a few weeks off pregnant, and presumably GP won't do anything for them until 6 weeks post partum recovery period has passed but I genuinely cannot cope with this pain anymore. Has anybody any home remedies or anything that has worked for them? I've pain sitting, driving, lying down, walking, there's no end to it. My GP was reluctant to do anything because I'm pregnant.

Things I have tried: anusol cream, scheriproct cream, sitz bath, paracetamol

Germaloids ointment and ibuprofen works for me (not pregnant just chronic ibs). Can just buy it off the shelf from any pharmacy.

Oh I feel your pain so much!

Anusol suppositories helped calm mine down! At around 30 weeks it felt like shards of glass up there, but now it still protrudes but is painless. I used them for like 2-3 days and haven't had to since! I'm now 38 weeks.

Are you on your feet a lot?
Piles are basically like varicose veins but in your bottom.
Try the suppository they are usually better and then use cream also
Ask GP to prescribe as you get free prescriptions
Drink lots of water
Eat a fibre rich diet
So not get constipated
Don't strain on the loo
Cotton support pants
Best tip .... if you can lie down to rest with feet higher than your heart. This will help the swelling go down .
Take two paracetamol.

Do this until they shrink.
Hope you feel better soon.

I second this, I filled a condom with water and popped in the freezer. Instant relief!

Thanks for this detail! I've tried a lot of this. I'm not on my feet a lot at all because I'm on maternity leave now, waiting for the baby to arrive. Paracetamol and the creams are doing virtually nothing for me so my GP advised me to stop taking them if they weren't providing any relief. I'm not in the UK so don't know about the free prescriptions thing but I'm willing to pay any money. They just don't seem to be shrinking. One has stopped causing as much pain but hasn't shrunk in size at all. I can't wait until I'm not pregnant to just get rid of them.

Aw I thought you were at the beginning of your pregnancy sorry.
Not sure which country you're in, but if it's yourlast few weeks I'd suggest you see your obstetrician and or midwife. The primary care GP won't be able to do much except what youve already tried.
If they are actually quite profuse though pushing out a baby might (will) make them far worse. An obs Consultant appointment would be advised if your in the last few weeks unless your having a CS x

I know the labour will make them so much worse which absolutely terrifies me!

The condom ice pop idea is a good one, going to remember that for next time.
