Lindo Wing Vs Westminster Maternity

Any experiences of either Lindo Wing or Westminster Maternity at St Thomas's? Want to go private and have narrowed it down to these two but not sure how to choose between them! Westminster is a bit closer to work so better for getting to appointments but obviously just want the best experience so don't mind the travel!

I nearly went private and was going to go for Westminster suite but it didn't feel particularly nice in terms of surroundings, I realised that as I was having a c section I'd be wheeled down to the general operating theatre and wheeled back up, essentially just paying thousands for a private room in an NHS hospital.
I feel like if you're going to go private then somewhere like the Portland where it feels like a hotel and someone brings round champagne in a bow tie, might be more worth the money

Hi @magicstar2020 for me and I'd assume most people it's more about continuity and depth of antenatal care and lower staff ratios in recovery!

Does Lindo Wing have access to a high level neonatal unit? Noone wants to think about the worst, but baby being able to be taken immediately to a level 3 NICU could save their life if something went wrong. I know this is the case at St Thomas' but you should check the position at the Lindo.

You mention Westminster being close to work. In my second pregnancy, I had to finish work at 36w and have appointments and monitoring every 2nd day due to BP issues and then preeclampsia. Think about if you were having to do that amount of travel and which might be easier from home.

You also need to consider travel in labour. I went to a hospital 15mins drive away and that was very uncomfortable. Even if you intend to have a planned section, you could go into labour before your section and it would need to be done as an emergency. If you can avoid a long journey (although not everyone can), I'd recommend it.

Thank you @AnotherNC22 very helpful considerations!
Yes Lindo has access to a good NHS NICU
