Symptoms faded at 9 weeks?

Should I be concerned? I’ve been a uffered with nausea, no appetite, major fatigue and gas for a few weeks now. The last few days, my symptoms have really toned down. I don’t feel nauseas anymore, my fatigue is still here just not as bad as it was, I’m eating pretty much back to normal etc. I still have tender boobs, congestion and slight nausea just before dinner…but other than that my symptoms seem to have gone.

I had a private scan 5 days ago which showed baby is healthy and a strong heartbeat, but I see so many horror stories relating to missed miscarriages etc. I’ve not had any bleeding or cramping etc so holding on to that.

My app says week 9 is the worst for sickness so that’s really freaked me out! Anyone else experienced this? Or think I should get it checked out?

This happened to me at exactly 9 weeks!! Then they allllll came flooding back a week later😂I'm 13 weeks and still suffering with a few xx

sel2223 · 28/10/2024 09:46

Yes it's very normal for symptoms to come and go. I had times where I didn't even feel pregnant in the first trimester then a few days later.....bang..... it'd be back worse than ever! Enjoy the break from feeling like hell

With my last pregnancy all my symptoms completely disappeared at 9 weeks I had an was put scan booked in anyway and when I went along I mentioned this to the nurse and she said it's very common at this stage as the placenta starts taking over at 9 weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy

Hi lovely! Thank you so much for your reassuring words and for checking in. I’m pleased to say baby is thriving, measuring currently 10w+5. Was so pleased to see them wriggling around on the screen! The sonographer confirmed the lack of symptoms was due to the placenta taking over. I actually feel miles better this week, seems my symptoms are very much alleviating (for now) so I’m going to enjoy it whilst I can! Thank you again xx

I’m in the same boat, had a scan 7 days ago at 8+4 and my boobs are no longer sore and I’m less fatigued. Placenta could be seen on scan. I think I’ve probably miscarried but have to wait until Saturday :(

Why do you think you've miscarried? Was something wrong at the scan?

yawn25 · 06/11/2024 20:42

@sel2223 Not that I know of. There was a good heartbeat but symptoms dropping off seem to indicate loss

Where did you read that symptoms dropping off indicates a loss? That's not the case at all.

professionaloverthinker · 07/11/2024 15:49

@Hannah2025 ahh I'm so pleased 😊 I'm currently 26 weeks and it's dragging lol. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. X

Hi lovely, I really would try not to think the worst. When I think about it, my symptoms definitely reduced at around 8 and a half weeks. I was very nauseas and tired between 6-8, then gradually things got a little better. I now feel completely fine bar a bit of spotting and cramping, which I got checked out again today.

It’s so easy to get in your head about a missed miscarriage, I really did too. But it’s also very normal for peoples symptoms to fade and things to still be healthy. Keep us updated with how you are and if you are extremely stressed then I’d look into getting a last minute private scan for reassurance it’s worth every penny ❤️

Thank you @Hannah2025 I have had 2 private scans and have 2 more booked before my 13 week scan. It's just so difficult when they've reduced. It's the sore boobs, no one else seems to lose those. I still have vomiting etc but mild

I definitely lost my sore boobs! Weirdly enough they’ve come back today, but mine went for a while too. The vomiting is a major sign that you are still pregnant. Fingers crossed for you, but I have a feeling everything will be okay. Also I’ve had 6 scans so far (12 w scan next week so I’m not even 12 w yet) - it’s all part of being an anxious mama, I feel your pain x

I would probably have more @Hannah2025 but it's hard fitting them around 50 hour work weeks. My next one is Saturday, whenever they get closer I feel like cancelling them as I'm so frightened it'll be bad news. If that one's fine my next one is the Sunday after. Then my 12 week scan is less than 2 weeks later

@sel2223 studies of how missed miscarriages present

It's an anxious time but actually completely normal for symptoms to come and go as others on this thread, including the OP, have attested to. There is also a lot of information about this available online.

A missed miscarriage is more often characterised by the fact there is no drop off in symptoms and there are no clues at all until it is discovered on the scan that there is no heartbeat. That's why it's missed.

You haven't said anything that would indicate a miscarriage but, of course, it's a high risk time in all pregnancies so never any guarantees unfortunately. Have you spoken to anybody about your anxiety?

Good luck

yawn25 · 07/11/2024 17:29

@sel2223 I've been told the anxiety is normal but my risk currently due to good scans is around 1%. That's still 1 in 100 that will lose their baby so that seems huge!

Some level of anxiety is normal but if you find it is becoming all consuming and taking over daily life then you should talk to someone about it, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

The first 12 weeks are the hardest and most anxious for all pregnant women but your risk of miscarriage doesn't sound any higher than anyone elses? Unless I've missed something? Any it never gets down to zero, even at 40 weeks!

It's important to try and keep some perspective as stressing about something you can't control never did anyone any good.... and I say that as an almost 42 year old who's 20 weeks pregnant who actually does have increased risk and is very familiar with scan-anxiety

yawn25 · 07/11/2024 17:58

Thanks @sel2223 I've been okay except for the reduced symptoms causing fear. I don't think I'm any higher risk? We're 25 and 26 and the midwife said I was a "green" for all categories. I work in a job where I deal with a lot of hazards though

I have been vomiting this afternoon which is unusual as it's usually the morning for me but not sure if it's the baby or potentially a bug?

My symptoms have changed so many times and stopped and started - every time I think the sickness has gone completely it comes back.
And as some symptoms like sore boobs have give, they've been replaced by other crazy ones...... this week I've started getting awful mouth sores and ulcers, and I've started getting dizzy spells and even fainted. The absolute joys of pregnancy!

Some lucky women (including my mother who had all 4 children in her 20's) never get any symptoms at all, no sickness whatsoever! I'm very jealous although I know that having no symptoms brings a whole other kind of stress.

Good luck with your pregnancy, it sounds like baby is coming nicely in there
