Switching from Princess Alexandra to Homerton Hospital

Hi, I am 24 weeks pregnant and have been with Princess Alexandra Hospital antenatal care until now. We are slightly further from the hospital and recent traffic in the area means it would take us close to 50mins to get to the hospital. Hence considering switching to Homerton Hospital which is 20mins away.
Looking for anyone with recent experience switching hospitals and if that would be straightforward and things we need to be aware of while switching.
Also would love to hear from anyone that has had any recent experience at Homerton Hospital.
Thanks

I dont know what Homerton is like now but 11 years ago its maternity was not good at all. I did not have a good experience there giving birth.

But, just to be fair - when my DS was unwell at 3 months they were brilliant.

Homerton weren’t great for me and the postnatal ward was beyond grim. No experience of PA though

I switched hospital at 36 weeks, it was fine. I switched from Newham to homerton. I had to have my booking appointment again, took any paperwork with me but because I was so far along they kept my scans at Newham as they said they wouldn't be able to fit them in. So I had scans at Newham still and appointments at homerton. I gave birth in April in the birthing centre and it was absolutely wonderful. They may it such a lovely experience where I felt in control and looked after. I couldn't believe it after a traumatic birth at Newham in 2018. I would 100% go back to homerton birth centre if I had another.

Can't speak on normal labour ward as I didn't go there. Postnatal ward was just your average ward. I almost got allowed to stay on the birthing centre with a big double bed and our own room but another lady came in ready to give birth so I needed to vacate for her. Would have been lush stying in there with the fairy lights and heaps of space lol.

2 fantastic experiences at Homerton in 2018 and 2020. Like a pp I did get to stay in the delivery room overnight with dc1 which was unbelievable- lovely double bed for me and DH and en suite.

Had to go on the postnatal ward with dc2 but it was during covid so different experience anyway. It was fine. The care I and babies had was excellent both times.
