Hi all just wondering if you had morning sickness when did it start ? Or if you didn't have any at all x

Nausea started about 7DPO so days before I could get a positive test. Think it eased a little about weeks 5/6 before peaking and lasted until 14 weeks. It used to wake me up in the night so had a packet of biscuits in my bedside table. About to TTC again - I've just had a stomach bug and been feeling sick all week so I'm now absolutely terrified it's going to be worse for a second baby.

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/10/2024 19:35

About 5 weeks, both pregnancies (girl and boy).

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/10/2024 19:35

I never had any sickness or nausea in any of my pregnancies.

xpurplextulipsx · 24/10/2024 19:35

With my first DC it started at about 5 weeks and lasted until about 20 weeks, although I didn't feel particularly unwell or anything I just felt sick then vomited in the mornings.

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with twins and haven't had any sickness at all just some nausea for a few weeks that started around the 5/6 week mark

howluckyami25 · 25/10/2024 18:48

Did anyone get cramps too like mild period pains ?

My nausea started very early. Day after my positive test at 4+6. Might have been psychosomatic as I have a fear of vomiting (which I think convinced me I felt sick more other than I actually did). Had a few really strong episodes of nausea around 7-9 weeks in particular. And then from 10-14 weeks I had regular dry heaving in the mornings. Felt ‘un-icky’ from 16 weeks onwards.

howluckyami25 · 30/10/2024 14:17

Is it normal to feel really sick one day then not the next ? Like on and off ?

OP posts:
sel2223 · 30/10/2024 18:27

Yes, all normal OP

Symptoms come and go at different times. You might have times feeling the worst you've ever felt then other times you don't even feel pregnant.
All very normal.

Unfortunately symptoms or lack of them, can't tell you anything about whether the pregnancy is healthy or viable.

Constant nausea started at 4 weeks. Sick multiple times a day and from 5-25 weeks and then usually once a day until baby was born. Taking cyclizine took a bit of the edge off so I was able to leave the couch and keep water down mostly. Remember desperately searching Mumsnet at the time and reading people's hyperemesis horror stories and hoping mine wouldn't be that bad! Luckily it wasn't although the third trimester was hard because I got gestational diabetes and vomiting used to mess with my blood sugar - and my stress levels! Hope you're feeling better soon🙏

A week after I got my bfp, I'd gone to my mum's for tea as exh was on an afternoon shift, ate my tea & then went home. Started with stomach ache & was stuck in the toilet before then throwing up. Every time I would really crave something to eat, eat it & within 15 minutes was stuck on the toilet with my head in a bucket. Thankfully, by 8 weeks, it stopped as suddenly as it started, I'd been living mostly on plain boiled rice & pasta except when I got the food cravings.

Yes, I had horrific diarrhoea, just like if I had food poisoning, I spent hours sat on the toilet with my head in a bucket.

Negangirlxx · 01/11/2024 03:21

7/8 weeks with my DD.
It lasted until about 16-18 weeks I think?

On occasion it did rear its ugly head, during the third trimester, but not as regularly.

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 01/11/2024 03:24

The day after l found out l was pregnant so week 6. Stopped at week 28

CatsandDogs22 · 01/11/2024 03:33

From what I guess was 3w5d for my eldest and 3w1d for my twins. Both times throwing up my morning coffee several days in a row was the impetus to pee on a stick. It lasted almost the entire pregnancy with my eldest, I lost weight, had to take medication etc - though did have brief respite between 22-30 weeks, with the twins it wore off around the 20 week mark and not come back

Bunnyhair · 01/11/2024 03:37

I had what I call only describe as an oily feeling in my stomach from about 5 weeks in all my pregnancies, and proper nausea without vomiting weeks 6-11.

CSSL7 · 02/11/2024 19:21

I’m 7w4d and im also wondering if ive perhaps dodged it this time (last pregnancy I was throwing up before a positive test due to abnormalities that caused sickness equal to hyperemesis). And this time I haven’t thrown up yet. All of these replies seem to say that their sickness has started before 7 weeks so I’m hopeful maybe I get to skip it this time 😭 I do live in fear everyday due to the ptsd from last time as it lasted 16 weeks (ended in loss) and everyday I get through without being sick feels like a weight is lifted but I just can’t wait to get further along. 😭

lovemycbf · 02/11/2024 19:57

1st pregnancy Six weeks until 42 weeks when I gave birth
Second pregnancy was sick a few times but hardly anything compared to the first
Both the same sex so 🤷‍♀️

howluckyami25 · 06/11/2024 12:46

Thanks all for your replies now here comes another query lol

Any natural remedies or advice to help with morning sickness ? I feel so sick !

vincettenoir · 06/11/2024 13:16

Eating relieved my sickness so I always had oat crackers on me. I also drank a lot of lime cordial which helped a little.

howluckyami25 · 06/11/2024 14:43

@vincettenoir thank you, I'm going to get some crackers ! I'm not complaining as I feel incredibly lucky but I just feel sooooo sick lol

I found eating little and often helped a little. Not letting myself feel hungry or full.

I would have a few strips of melon, cucumber slice with a little cheese on top, plain ritz crackers, one piece of toast etc.

Also drinking plenty of fruity drinks like flavoured water, apple juice etc

No tea and coffee, nothing fizzy, no meat

GemmaG91x · 11/06/2025 08:57

Hello I'm currently 9 weeks today following an IUI pregnancy ! First time mum to be.

Im just curious about morning sickness I was throwing up maybe every few datys about 3 to 4 weeks ago and last wedensdag just the once and nothing since is this normal not to have morning sickness ?

lovemycbf · 11/06/2025 09:05

Mine was 8 weeks until I had the baby at 42 weeks 🥲

lifebeginz · 11/06/2025 11:39

Not actual sickness but the nausea started about 4.5 - 5 weeks for me. Felt god awful. It started to wear off in the last week (I am now 9 + 6) but I had another bad day of it yesterday. I think it is just coming and going a little less frequently now and hopefully starting to wear off....

Things i have been doing that seem to help:
Taking B6 and magnesium
Taking pre-natals in the Evening after my evening meal and going to bed soon after
Eating little and often (plain carbs mainly)
Drinking ice cold water - I rotate bottles in the freezer to keep it very very cold. Sometimes add lemon and/or ginger too
Ice lollies
seabands. (I bought plastic ones originally which were advertised as for morning sickness but the did nothing.) i find the fabric "sea bands" help take the edge off
ALWAYS having plain snacks to hand - crackers, dry cereal and such like (I took a box of apricot wheats into my midwife app yesterday in case the hunger nausea reared its head lol)
Nibble a couple of crackers or oatcakes before getting up in the Morning and then eating breakfast (usually cereal or toast) plus a strawberry Actimel as soon as I get up
Cold fruits to hand
Sour hard boiled sweets to suck on, also mints, chewing gum and strawberry laces have helped
avoid smells that make you gag
keep face out of the shower (for some reason the shower water on my face makes me gag - doesn't seem to be a common symptom though so may not apply to you)
Get flavoured toothpaste (I bought kids strawberry) if toothpaste makes you gag (see above - may not be common)
Nap whenever possible

For me as long as I kept hydrated, didn't allow myself to get hungry and rested/napped regularly it helped to keep on top of it. it doesn't take it away but made it generally manageable. I did have 4 straight days in bed at one point (maybe somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks) which was AWFUL but other than that i have been able to manage it using the above (I do still cry most days though ha)

This sounds about right because it commonly stops for most women around 12 weeks and you’re not far off that.
