I've name changed for this one!

I haven't had any electrolysis since becoming pg. I just assume it's not ideal. That's right isn't it?

Are people all waxing as normal? I've juts been shaving legs and underarms because the thought of waxing and the pain and all seems to much at the moment. I'm terrible with pain at the best of times.

What's this about not dyeing hair when pg? I don't know what to think!!!

help!

wouldn't do electrolysis, cn't remember why, but like you say not ideal.
Waxing absolutely fine.
Stick with shaving, I would, much easier.
No to hair dye. Too many chemicls. You could ask at hairdressers though if you're despeart.

funnypeculiar · 23/04/2008 20:11

You may find waxing irritates the skin (more blood rushing round the system/closer to the skin.

cheerfulvicky · 23/04/2008 21:35

I think you can dye your hair with natural henna in pregnancy, but yeah - chemical colourants are a no-no from what I've heard.

Waxing OK but more painful. Luckily my body hair pretty much stopped growing in pg so I only had to go the once, then again for the drastic pre-partum bikini wax [ouch!].

chunkychips · 23/04/2008 21:44

I had mine highlighted during both my pregnancies. No problems although had the foil strips and it doesn't actually go directly on scalp so shouldn't enter bloodstream(?)

Minniethemoocher · 24/04/2008 09:29

My eyebrows could do with a tidy up - so I was thinking of trying threading, I have heard that it is more gentle than waxing (I have very thick, dark eybrows!)

Anyone any experience of threading V waxing?

ipanemagirl · 24/04/2008 09:43

I haven't tried it Minnie.
I can't face waxing, I feel so hypersensitive but shaving just sucks doesn't it?
Are organic products ok in pg?

AHLH · 24/04/2008 12:20

I had foil highlights at 14 weeks. Foils don't touch your scalp, so you should be OK. 19 weeks now, so don't actually know if it has had any harmful effects on Bump.

Was also wondering about the delapidatory issue.

I'm guessing that Nair/Immac type creams are out whilst pg?

gillythekid · 24/04/2008 14:28

I'm currently sporting the full on 70's porn star 'crazy bush' look as I can no longer see what I'm doing, even for a trim. Had a wax at 19 weeks and it was very sensitive and grew back within about 20 minutes so might just leave it for now.

caramelbunny · 24/04/2008 15:58

I've heard the same as chunkychips & AHLH and think foil highlights ok as not in contact with scalp.

Have had brows both waxed and threaded. Threading gives great results but slower and more painful than waxing. Feels like every tiny hair being slowly pulled out. Good preparation for birth.

ipanemagirl · 24/04/2008 16:05

LOL gillythekid!!

Just called my salon who said that Aveda products are fine if you are going darker i.e. covering grey. It's only a problem if you are going lighter and then they'll only do foils etc. Presumably that's becoz the lightening agents are more toxic?
Do you think I should trust Aveda or not?!

HI there, noticed the question about threading... it really depends, but if you go to the right place, with the right person I think it hurts less... and you get a better shape, but that's a personal view! basically threading is like plucking.. but they just take out more hair, if that makes sense!
