TMI warning - pic

Has anyone had low bbt that is up and down and still been pregnant?

So, here is what has happend this cycle. We dtd on CD28 with ewcm CD27-29. I think (not using OPks) that I ovulated on CD30 then CD31 I had a weird fainting feeling just after I'd had lunch. It lasted about a minute and I really thought I was going to black out. I had headaches and cramps from 4 to 7DPO and on 7DPO I had brown stringy stuff when I wiped but only once (see pic).

Other than the above, I've not had any other symptoms and my BBT is all over the place (also attached). I have irregular cycles but I do seem to have a 14 day LP. I am now on 12DPO so waiting to test around 14DPO but has anyone had symptoms like this and got a bfp? Everything I've read says BBT should be elevated but I have read a few websites that it says doesn't happen to all women. Does anyone have any positive stories? TIA x x

Not to assume, but do you have PCOS?

BeckyPfromLeeds · 12/10/2024 19:40

I haven't been diagnosed with it but I have my suspicions. Does that mean that I could still be pregnant with temps like that? X x

BBT is honestly so pointless, no reputable fertility doctor would recommend it. So in the same way for any cycle you've had unprotected sex, yes you could be pregnant but you won't know until you test.

How are you measuring your temp? Orally? Just checking because I know sometimes using a watch can have irratic readings.

BeckyPfromLeeds · 12/10/2024 20:25

Yes orally with a premom Bluetooth thermometer. More or less at rhe same time everyday x x

do you take the test first thing in the morning before having a drink or going to the toilet?

My bbt had a distinct increase after ovulation. I still had the zigzag, but it would rise enough to see a clear difference. As a pp said I think some people in the past have said on here it didn’t work well for them when they have pcos. I suppose the other thing is if your hormones might be haywire, eg not enough progesterone (assuming that’s the one that increases temp but I’m not certain about it). I wonder if you can test or check that to make sure it looks ok? I suppose if this is your first cycle bbt then you could try again next month too and use opk so you can use both.

The only other guess is that you haven’t ovulated yet? But I’m not confident in that.

All of the above are guesses and nothing based on my experience or knowledge.

Thank you. Yes, I take it as soon as I wake up, I reach over for my thermometer and take it with my eyes shut. When it beeps, I know it's finished.

I think only time will tell. I will give it a few more days and then I will test. I think I know deep down I am not pg but every owning and again I get little feelings of maybe.

I have had some of the hormone tests some came back borderline and the rest OK. I have been tracking since Jan but a little hit and miss as my cycles have been so erratic. This is only my 4th cycle this year. My previous ones have been 100 days then 101 days so I started taking myo-inositol which then brought my next cycle to 40 days. I am now on CD43 and no sign of AF. This journey is so frustrating 😔

My temp stayed high when I was pregnant and I stopped temping once I found out. It stays high until you either have a period (temp dips again) or find out you're pregnant (you stop temping). You haven't ovulated yet because your bbt isn't high enough and hasn't stayed high. I always get spotting around ovulation. Luteal phase tends to be at least 37C which you haven't hit yet.

I followed the instructions on the same thermometer and always ended up with charts like yours. I read an amazing book called Getting Pregnant with PCOS by Clare Goodwin, which I HIGHLY recommend. She uses a different timing for the temperature (put it in your mouth for 10 mins, then turn it on), and I found it much more accurate and I was able to track it. I cannot recommend that book enough!
