I'm just so shocked by this- i'm 28 and didn't expect it to show this. Has anyone else been in this situation?

I was offered a CVS test there and then but decided to wait until friday when the bloods are back. they are fast tracking me but i'm just so shocked by this.

I am so glad you have got peace of mind - you can see now why people refuse these scans/tests. If they could tell you anything for definite then they'd be much more useful but it seems to me they cause more worry and stress than they save. I had a friend who had 1:20 (5%) risk of heart defect at nuchal but all was fine at 20 week scan.

Hope all goes well for the rest of your pregnancy!

Excellent. The doctors and sonographers at King's are the best! GL!

Hi Jackamolsmum. I looked into the whole foetal scan thing when I too had a high result and learned that experience and depth of training is the absolute key with these screening tests, so I am sure you are right about your local hospital. It's infuriating when they delay the bloods becasue some porter left it on a trolley somewhere, but if you don't want to spend lots of extra money then ask for the number for the centre where they analysed the bloods. Most triple tests in London go to Barts, and the people there at the speicalist testing centre are amazing and explain everything very clearly on the phone: they see it as theri job to answer questions from patients, so you are not imposing on them.
Also just another thought, your local hospital still has you on record as having a high risk nuchal scan, right? This means you should be able to be booked in with a foetal medicine consultant (and not just a sonographer) for the 20 weeks scan. Ask about that, it might save you a lot of hassle, and money
good luck

Thanks stickybean- the support on here has been wonderful. I was just devastated on Wednesday and MN has been a real source of information and experiences.

I hope i've made the right decision not to have CVS-its just such a dilemma what to do for the best.

In many ways I wondered what was the point was as I can't imagine what i'd do with the information if the news was bad. Well fingers crossed that the next 6 months goes quickly and healthily!

Thanks everyone- your support on here has been invaluable to me x

Can only confirm what everyone is saying. The NHS are pretty hit and miss. Most hospitals offer the tests but have limited experience of working out what the results mean. In this situation I would go for a centre that does these tests day in day out with the best equipment and sadly this will probably mean paying for this test to be done with care ensuring that you are fully informed of the results.

Can highly recommend Professor Campbell's Clinic in Harley Street, London. Professor Campbell mentored Prof Nick at Kings and whilst he doesnt personally do the tests himself the clinc had the best equipment and took the utmost care.
